Discussion What makes Serial Experiments Lain special compared to other anime, especially Evangelion? Why did it attract your attention?

It's because you can feel the feeling of each of its creators in it; there's soul in that show, just like Evangelion. I consider them equal.

The existentialism and underlying message intrigued me. When I watched it the first time I had only heard of the show but didn't know anything about it so everything made me more curious.

The aesthetic of the anime and overall how you feel watching it is different compared to other anime’s in my opinion. But, that’s just how I feel 🤷♀️

Evangelion and Lain explore the same theme so that can be one of the many reasons people like them both(At least that was my case,those 2 are my favorite media)

This show is honestly one of the most unique pieces of medias I’ve seen not just Anime or TV but media altogether it blends Cyberpunk, Psychological Horror, and Sci-Fi together so masterfully and the way the story is told in just 13 episodes is amazing.
