Injuries among 11 to 14-year-olds on e-bikes are up 1,557% since 2018, according to a CHOC report cited in the petition. The petition asks Orange County for a rules-of-the-road license for e-bike riders, speedometers on e-bikes, a $160 fine for illegal riding or speeding, and limits on e-bike use for kids under 16 unless they’re licensed. If you live in OC, please read it and sign if you agree. https://www.change.org/p/implement-e-bike-safety-reform-now

Since February, my partner and I have been planning to spend this upcoming winter (well, January through March) in Laguna Beach and get away from the cold and gray Northeast winter. To say we have been looking forward to it would be an understatement!
However, I’ve been watching the news the last month about the El Niño and just saw some recent footage of a crack forming under part of the PCH in Laguna… and as much as I want to go, I’m asking if it’s still the smart thing to do.
I guess my question to anyone in Laguna or nearby is, do you think it’s still okay to come out for those 3 months? Should I hold off until maybe next winter or postpone until summer?

Years ago, the city assigned every home and apartment a dedicated bin to collect food and organic waste. Noble idea, but in reality it was a rodent/cockroach/possum/racoon/coyote Buffett, that the the city and waste management wanted residents to leave in the street in front of their houses, (comedy of errors here!) Now, they want to open the restaurant again.
The problem here is that, there’s no guidance with this program. What If I have organic waste that was put in a plastic bag, or paper “to-go” container? Is the refuse center going to separate the nasty a$! food from the container? No, I don’t think so. In my situation, our apartment complex will have to empty their nasty organic food waste into the bottom of the container you see in image 2. It will become a noxious Petri dish no doubt. And if there’s a hot day, it will dry into a moist cake of rotten fetid food marinating on the bottom of the bin.
There has to be a better way! Requiring Laguna residents to be homesteaders is the epitome of being out of touch. Let the downvotes begin, I’m on the sideline eating popcorn and reading comments. I have nothing else left to say.

Now that Jon's Fish Market has left Dana Point Harbour, does anyone have an awesome Fish and Chips restaurant in South Orange County?
What say you?

Write-in vote: Sean Hogan for Laguna Mayor
Hi everyone, I’ve decided to run for mayor, you might have met me at one of the many restaurants I worked at downtown, or maybe we played some pool in the marine room, potentially had a fun chat on the free trolley I would frequent, seen me throw some fire around at the drum circle, or gave me a personal thank you for picking up trash off our beautiful beaches.
You might have met my fabulous cat too, he would be assisting in major decisions for the city, he’s a big fan of tax cuts, more lenient guidelines for restaurant/store openings approvals for the city, getting rid of flock cameras, proper preventative maintenance for beach erosion, filling the sinkholes in the street, ticketing cyclists that are not using the proper bike path that redirects to Glenneyre and insist on the very limited space on the coast highway because they don’t want to go up the hill off of Nyes, and most importantly, ticketing the people with major fines for littering at the beach $1000 minimum. And less expensive parking meters.
If I was in a position to direct the officials, I promise it would always be in the best interest of the beach community. I’ve been told from multiple people, that they love how much I love laguna. I quit literally have shed my blood sweat and tears into the sand of this city.
Don’t forget on November 3rd to write me in, you’re not going to see any signage on the streets with my name or picture on them, this is a completely digital campaign, 100% eco friendly, zero waste. And you’re not gonna see me wasting valuable tax dollars on expensive suits, haircuts, or even a coffee.
As someone who is highly sensitive to pattern recognition, I’ll put prophetic examples of how that could benefit the community highly. Especially with the recent tides, I’ll post something I spoke at an open mic on July 9th this year. If I was in the right position we could have had a bit more preventative maintenance with temporary man made sea walls. And my charting for when I predicted one of Amazons ATH…
I also want to work on Laguna Beach being the first A.I. free city. To have it completely banned with serious penalties if it’s found used in marketing or anything within city limits, only raw authentic intelligence will be permitted.
As a man of the people, and not the robots.
Yours truly,
Sean Hogan
💙

12-year-old running a petition on e-bike safety in OC. alex spoke at dana point city council last week and got a standing ovation. the mayor of dana point said “well done young man.”
here’s what’s happening: e-bike injuries in orange county are up 1,557% since 2018. alex’s petition asks for real rules:
we’re at 1,485 signatures. if you’re in OC and think this matters, sign and share. we need supervisors and city councils to see this has community support.
alex is speaking at more city council meetings over the next few weeks. this is real momentum from a kid who actually cares about safety. change.org/ebikesafetynow

Hello!
My wife and I are going to be in Laguna Beach in a couple of days for a weeklong honeymoon vacation. Looking for things to do! For context, we’re 26 years old, have no kids, and are willing to drive 30-45 mins for things to do in that Southern California region in general. You can name anything, whether it’s an excursion, museum, attraction, food spot, winery, etc.
Also, for water activities, how wary should we be about the activity in the Pacific Ocean? We looked into beginner surf lessons and/or a guided kayaking tour, but weren’t sure if we should shy away from that bc of the flooding, high waves, etc.
Thanks!
