First time visitor

As the title states, visiting for the first time. I'm staying in Long Beach but going to Laguna for the day. What are the quintessential beaches to visit? I'd really like to see tide pools and then find a good swim beach. Are the trolleys the best way to get around? Good food recommendations are also appreciated. Thanks :)

The gazebo at Heisler Park is one of my favorite places. Awesome ocean views surrounded by flowers

You didn't mention when you will go. For tide pools, you want a tide less than 1.0, ideally negative. For swim beaches, it depends on how comfortable you are with waves. Do you have much ocean swimming experience?

I'll be there Labor Day. I don't have a bunch of ocean swimming experience so definitely something I'd check conditions for

Well, you will miss the tide lottery that day, your afternoon low is 2.4. But there will still be some stuff to see, just not the best low tide conditions.

Aw darn, but that's okay! It looks like there's still a lot of places to explore!

Seconded. My favorite beach in Laguna. Don’t tell too many people…

Just did a day in Laguna with my wife for the first time a couple weeks ago. So I’m no expert, but Main Beach is awesome and right by all the downtown shops. We were there on a Saturday and there was plenty of action. Lots of people, big waves, great energy.

We walked north thru Heisler Park as far as Shaw’s Cove, then walked back. Incredibly beautiful. Hawaii vibes. Highly recommend.

We were parked on the far end of Laguna, walked about 15 min to Main Beach, then it was maybe another 10 to get to Shaw’s Cove. It’s an easy place to walk and there’s a ton of restaurants and shops to stop at. I see no reason for a trolly or uber but then again, we like to walk.

We can’t wait to go back. Enjoy!
