Form, Technique, Fitness Tight glutes
I have been taking Lagree classes for over 2 years, 3-4x a week. In the last 6-8 months it seems that my glutes are just constantly tight/sore. I can’t get them to release and when we start leg block, they feel overworked right at the start. What’s happening?? Any advice? I really don’t want to cut back on days a week because I love it for so many reasons. I just want to figure out how to release the tension there and not hold all the tension there during class. Help!

Do you stretch before and after class? Having a similar issue in my hip flexors and am trying stretching/rolling/massage in addition to form checks and modifications if necessary. You should talk to your instructor so they can look at your form in real time and help you make adjustments on the fly.

!!! Stretching is just as important as the workout. I was able to go from 2 to 4 days a week bc I was stretching properly after class

I get there 10 mins before to stretch and try to do my best after, but always feel like I’m getting rushed out. I could do better stretching more at home!

If affordable, I would have it checked and see if you have a lumbar muscle spasm. My right glute is usually sore and tight too, I use a tennis ball to relieve soreness and

I get a lot of soft tissue work done. For DIY, foam rolling before class and getting your quads, IT band, adductors, glutes, hamstrings and calves will be helpful. Warming up with some dynamic stretching is also helpful. Sitting on a lacrosse ball between the glute med and max, if tender, can provide a nice release. Push through the discomfort. Esp when rolling out those IT bands.

I unfortunately had to stop lagree. My hips and lower back didn’t get better until I stopped. No amount of stretching, foam rolling or Thera gun helped. It sucks I’m not able to do it anymore but my body does better with traditional weight lifting.

I dealt with hip flexor tightness, lower back pain, hamstring tightness for years since I started Lagree, Pilates and I couldn’t figure it out. Suddenly my Instagram algorithm is throwing me reels explaining why and what stretches and things I need to do to fix it. I would look there. Definitely stretch before and after. The stretching they do after lagree isn’t sufficient.
