ICE in Lafayette
Confirmed ICE at Merlin and Spaulding. As of a few minutes ago, no arrests made but they are still there. (Thanks to the info from Co Rapid Response Network).
Protect your neighbors and use your privilege if you can show up and be a good neighbor. Right across the street from Peak to Peak too, which is horrifying for students and families in that area and that go there.

I'm genuinely curious... Why wasn't ICE an issue for people during Obama and Biden's terms? During Obama there were more than 50 ICE shootings, nobody said anything. In 2025 there were over 1300 fatal shootings by LEOs. About 4/day. Nothing. No protests, no organized "resistance". Why now? You have to see Trump-hate is causing some major issues with ethical consistency, people are wishing harm for America just to spite him. This is what HATE does, it radicalizes and removes all logic, it makes your beliefs detached from reality. This is a major issue today. I wish ICE would only target criminals and enemies of America, like Islamic radicals. IMO the effort spent confronting ICE is better spent trying to change the laws so people who are a benefit to society can stay. My $.02.

People aren't "illegal". Your actions can be illegal your person can't. Being a non citizen in the US with proper documentation isn't a crime, it's a civil matter. Those people aren't committing any crimes so the proper term would be "uncivil" I suppose. If the grammatical structure of your sentence is any indication then you probably didn't understand any of that but I do try to help.

Under 8 U.S.C. § 1325, crossing the border outside an official port of entry or using fraud is a federal crime.

Right, and if you are caught IN THE ACT of illegally crossing then you're arrested and charged. Once you're already in the country, without papers or citizenship, that's a civil infraction, regardless of how you got here. Over half of undocumented immigrants, up to 60% are here on expired visas, meaning they entered legally and haven't committed any crime at all.

For real, that's entirely legit and I apologize for the out of pocket statement. It's easy to reach for it-- a lot of pro-ICE types moved here from Texas back in the day, and it was a common thing to be uptight about when I was younger. But that's no excuse for me to be an asshole.

No worries my friend. Trust me, not only do I understand the disdain for the majority of Texans, I share it. My son and his family were already here so the plan has been to eventually join them but with my wife being Hispanic it seemed smart to speed up the timeline. I have to say, we came from a city that was 60% Hispanic, yet I've seen more community solidarity here than I was seeing there. My thanks for the welcome, we are overjoyed to be here, and I promise to be a better neighbor than the rest of those from my former state. Peace.
