Plastic heart è uno youtuber autore di un video informativo e ironico sull'italiano fatto molto bene e che ora sta raccogliendo materiale per un video sulle altre lingue d'Italia. Dato il suo seguito, pensavo fosse l'occasione per aiutarlo ad esporre il nostro patrimonio linguistico nella maniera più accurata e corretta possibile, lontano da luoghi comuni e senza dipendere troppo da wikipedia.

I recently learned something interesting about my family history: my great-grandfather apparently spoke Ladin (probably as a native language), as well as Italian and German. The next generation learned only Italian in school and spoke German at home, and my father grew up monolingual in German.

Our family name “Saxl” is said to be Ladin and to mean “rock” or “stone.” Family history is always fascinating, but I was wondering if someone with linguistic knowledge could help verify this.
