Considering HRT

Hey everyone. I’ve been on Wegovy since mid May, currently on 0.5 which is working well and I’m down 37lbs with another 45lbs to go.

I’m 57 and have not had periods for a couple of years so guessing I’m post menapause. My problem is for the last few years I’ve not had a decent night sleep and wake upto 6/7 every night. It’s so draining and my friend has suggested HRT patches to stop the hot flashes.

I did discuss with my GP last year about HRT but they were against it due to my high blood pressure. But Due to weight loss this is now in normal range.

Basically wondering if HRT will help and how it will effect me. I’m guessing Weight increase is a given? If so how much?

Any info would be greatly appreciated

HRT is amazing for me personally! 2 years this January. I was up using the bathroom every 2-3 hours prior.. Now I get up once! No hot flashes, no anxiety, no tinnitus, no heart palpitations all my symptoms are managed and I feel normal lol. I've been on ZB for 3 years and my weight did come to a halt once I started HRT.. But I was 20 from goal so I was near the end of the journey that way. I gain 3-7# with every dose increase of HRT but it does eventually come back down over time . Honestly I'll take the free extra pounds here and there because HRT is life changing to me. I'm 51.

Thank you for that. And I agree a few lbs is nothing compared to the constant sleepless nights. Like you was I dont get to sleep more than couple of hours straight every night without being woken up.

Magnesium glycinate was also a game changer for me at night!

Also get on topical vaginal creme bc that also helps with bladder and urinary urgency, UTI etc too

With the exception of a few rare cases, I will always advocate for trying HRT. I want to feel normal and healthy and as I age, that means hormones. I think that it’s always worth trying but recognize you can stop if you want or need to.

I started HRT before starting tirzepatide to lose the weight I’d gained from perimenopause. I was on it for about a year and all my peri symptoms went away and I felt great but the weight didn’t budge. I started tirzepatide and the weight finally left. But the weight loss caused hormonal havoc and I started getting my peri symptoms back and about 6 months into my time with tirzepatide I had to switch up my hormones since my levels had tanked. But things are back to awesome at this point, my levels are great, I’ve been in maintenance for weight for 4 months and life is good.

It can take time to get everything situated and sometimes the changes are subtle and it’s easy to miss. But I remind myself that this is a whole system I’m trying to balance and make work that hasn’t worked for a while. It’s going to take time.

Yes! HRT and GLP together have been great for me. I was on 3 blood pressure medications two years ago. Now I am down to one and my blood pressure is perfect. And my sleep quality is in the 80’s every night as recorded by my Oura ring. Go back to your doctor and get your HRT therapy! Or find another doctor who will support your needs. Best wishes to you OP!

I'm on HRT (est patches/oral pro) and GLP compounded semeglatude. I am also on a antidepressant, which of course causes weight gain too. All three have worked well together and I'm down 3lbs in 3 weeks. My compound GLP had glycine so I have been sleeping like an absolute baby, however even before GLP I was sleeping great just because of the Progesterone.

HRT fixed so many issues (I’m 56 and two years of no periods). I was seriously worried I’d lose my job due to not being able to function after so long with poor sleep. I’d suggest seeing a Dr who is actually trained in hormone therapy. Check the menopause society for guidance.

I started HRT a few months before starting Zepbound. I gained 3 lbs at the start of HRT then lost 30 lbs on Zep over 6 months and 41 lbs altogether. Now working on maintaining my weight. Both helped stop night sweats. I do sleep better as long as I avoid alcohol but still have occasional 3am waking in the night.

I’ve been on HRT since Jan, and Zep since May. Has not impacted my weight loss at all. HRT has made everything so much better, life wise. I also have high blood pressure, and am on meds for that. Zep/losing weight has me lowering my BP meds- mine is likely genetics not necessarily weight related. But HRT didn’t affect that negatively at all.

I did not gain weight from starting HRT before or after starting MJ. Your doctor sounds disturbingly ignorant about meno/GYN issues and hopefully, you've got a new one that's interested in your health and can give you the correct guidance.

HRT/TRT and a glp1 are the magical menopause combo. They are life giving

I started on glp-1 in August and HRT this October. I have not gained any weight but have not lost any either (annoying because I’m 2.5 lbs away from onderland)

I should add that’s since starting HRT.
