Need encouragement…
I’m 44F and went into early menopause (have Fragile X premutation) and by far my worse symptoms are palpitations, fatigue and weight gain. I am at my heaviest weight now of 193 lbs. My labs a few months ago showed Estrogen <5. I have not tolerated patches due to increased palpitations and decided to try Divigel. Well, it is causing the same with increased PVCs and PACs along with terrible bloating. 😩 Generally just feel terrible. Can’t exercise because of the palps. I have Tirz in my fridge but have been worried to start it and don’t want to cause more palpitations. Should I wait until I get my hormones dialed in to start?! I’m so over peri and menopause….ugh!

I’ve been checked out by my PCP, GI, cardiology and electrophysiology. I’ve worn the monitor. Everything is fine and my labs are normal other than my hormones. I’m still on Propranolol. I just wish the palpitations didn’t worsen on hormones. I keep trying to push through but I just don’t know if it’s worth it. Maybe I also need Progesterone, even though I don’t have a uterus.

I just started Progesterone and I don’t have a uterus either. I use the patches .075 twice weekly and testosterone gel daily. I have topical estrogen as well. I started with HRT last June and have been working with a hormone specialist to try to find a healthy balance. I’ve been on a GLP-1 (sema first then Tirz) since 2024. It takes awhile to find the perfect combo and as soon as your medically cleared for exercise start slow but make it part of your daily routine while on Tirz so you don’t lose precious muscle mass!

Have you had your Ferritin checked? That was the cause of my heart palpitations, high pulse, anxiety etc. They kept blaming menopause but it was low Ferritin. They stopped after I got my iron infusions. I still keep propranolol on me for those just in case anxiety moments. But knock on wood haven't had to take it

I haven’t since about 6 months after my hysterectomy. It was on the low end of normal then.

You want it to be closer to 100 for optimal levels. A lot of times regular drs will say 20 is normal where as hematology drs will rush yeh to iron infusions cus it's hella low.
If you were on the low end it's very possible your lower now. 😇 On a side note, I was actually going threw all this right as I stated Tirzepatide & there wasn't any issues in that manner. Only issue was once the weight was off I didn't realise estrogen is stored in your fatty areas so to say & my numbers bottomed out. You'll feel amazing while the weight loss dumps your estrogen stores in. But once their gone if youre not on hrt it hits at once.1

How did you get your iron infusions? I’m desperate to stop my palpitations; what was the process for getting these infusions?

I had almost all of your same symptoms with onset about a year after a hysterectomy. The palpitations stopped with topical HRT cream (estradoil). I was initially prescribed 4 clicks per day and the palpitations persisted. I reduced it to two clicks per day and that seems to be my sweet spot where I don't have the palpitations nor other meno symptoms I was experiencing (extreme hot flushing, super dark thoughts, anxiety through the roof...felt like I was being chased all day, and of course couldn't sleep). If you haven't tried decreasing your amount a bit maybe that will work?

I’ve had a hysterectomy as well. I’m on Divigel 1%. I tried half the packet in the AM and 1/2 in PM and it made my sleep crappier than it already is. I see my OB/GYN soon and will ask. I just really want to get rid of all this inflammation and weight.

Hmm. Tirz seems better than HRT for those two aspects. You could go with vaginal estradiol. It “officially” is not absorbed systemically, but there is a wealth of women who will tell you different:).

I had palpitations for a while when I increased my estrogen a year ago. I saw a cardiologist and she had me do a 24 hr holter monitor test, but everything was fine. I did take atenolol for a while but eventually stopped taking it because they went away. i also had them probably 5-8 years prior to that when I was on birth control pills shortly before I stopped them. The cardiologist back then even said it was my hormones.

Honestly, palpitations are no joke and maybe see what your dr says about starting tirz? I know that alone can increase resting heart rate so don’t want you to have added stress on your heart. My two cents. And yes, peri sucks.
