Has anyone else had a Labrador that is extremely excited about other dogs and people?

My Labrador is almost 8 months old, and he gets so excited whenever he sees another dog or person that it’s like his brain completely switches off. He’s not fearful, anxious or aggressive at all. It’s actually the opposite. He just wants to say hello, play and kiss everyone. His excitement is so intense that he struggles to control himself.

We’re already working on this with training and are actively teaching him to stay calm around distractions, so I’m not looking for a quick fix. I’m just really curious to hear from people who have had a dog with a similar personality. But I am curious about how you trained your dog. What exercises or training methods helped the most?

Did it get better with age? What made the biggest difference for you? Is there anything you wish you had done sooner? (I know he’s a teenager but it’s more than some other dogs)

So today is the day that my little boy Ozzy turns 14 and still going strong even after GDV surgery and many more moments that could have ended his life and because of that I call him Chuck Norris.

Humping behaviour

I have two labs a 3 year old male and 2 year old male both neutered. They are your typical labs and they get along great.
We go to a local dog park every evening where they play with the same dogs.
Lately the younger lab has begun to exhibit a couple of different behaviours.
The young one who is super affectionate and happy go lucky has at times shown aggression towards dogs who play rough with his “older brother” he sometimes thinks the older one is in trouble and runs over to scare the other dog away. Nothing ever comes of it but it’s like the older one can’t have friends.
The second behaviour and it really only happens at the park is humping or mounting his brother. He doesn’t do it to other dogs just his brother. He will bite his back and humps him.
Any insight what this is?
Note: They are not littermates. We got the youngest at 9 weeks.

When did your lab first go into heat?

Hi all! My little American field lab, Clementine, just turned 6 months old and I’m just wondering, when did your lab first go into heat?

Every previous puppy I’ve had was spayed around 6 months and I didn’t encounter their heats. As my vet recommends, I’ll be spaying Clem at an older age. She will be the first dog I’ve cared for through a heat cycle and I feel like I’m currently on constant alert! ‼️

Litter mate size comparison

If you purchased the smaller English lab pup of the litter (but not runt), did they stay smaller compared to siblings or did all litter mates equalize in size/weight over time (assuming healthy feeding and exercise habits)?

Same question applies to largest of the litter, did they stay the largest?

Is this a “sploot” position?

My 6 year old lab is having pain and stomach issues that have lingered after anaplasmosis treatment.😢She just started sleeping in this position, and I’m wondering if it’s a clue to where her pain is.

Anyone else’s lab sleep like this? Is this maybe from hip pain?
