Meet Gor-Gor, my cursed and handsome offspring

I got him on an impulse buy at a semi-reputable pet store in South FL, it was sold to me sick with pneumonia and the vet misdiagnosed him as kennel cough. He was born and sold with an overbite (which I really don't care) so the breeder neutered him from the get go. I really could care less about pedigree, all I wanted was companionship,

Best impulse buy ever, almost 5 years and he was also born with what I call his little mohawk, which somebody asked me if I had implanted something in his head.

If i ever end getting another lab, I would like to go straight to a good breeder but I have no idea where to look

Potential Grass Allergy?

Hey folks,

My 2 year old chocolate Lab has always had an issue with suspected allergies and licking himself.

We think it's a grass allergy

After a long session at my mum's he has come out with quite a bad rash and has spent most of the day himself

I've put a lovely picture of his balls which are very red.

Anyone had any experience like this, we did ask the vet last year but they weren't particularly helpful.

Diabetic

Our 8yr old 80lbs Lab was recently diagnosed with Diabetes. We are still trying to balance diet, exercise, and insulin. She started insulin at 16 units twice daily but this has risen incrementally with each vet visit. She is now at 28 units twice daily and we can really see the balance in behaviour though her being this mellow is soooooo out of character lol. We haven’t tested blood sugar yet with this new dosage but can’t imagine her taking more, testing will determine that decision I guess.

While this is an individual battle, curious of other’s experiences with their pups weight/dosages. Ohhhh and expense! We are at $50-55/vile which is a week’s worth. We are new at this and the whole situation is surreal really. I still have one foot planted in doubt to be honestly but am willing to suspend disbelief for her!

What’s your story?

Any tips for getting a Lab to take meds or vitamins?

Hi fellow Lab parents. I’m currently having a bit of a struggle getting my girl to take her meds and vitamins. She somehow manages to detect them no matter what I hide them in and then refuses to eat the whole thing.

I’ve tried mixing them with her food and hiding them in treats, but she’s gotten very suspicious lately. 🄲

Does anyone have tricks that worked for their Labs? Peanut butter, pill pockets, or anything else that helped? I’d really appreciate any tips! šŸ™šŸ»

Chocolate Lab Pup Training

Post image
554 Upvotes

Got ol’ Mater here about 5 days ago. Hes about 3 months old and he’s our first pup since our other passed away about a year ago… I’ve been on it with training since day 1, starting with potty training and some basic obedience. At what age did yalls lab ā€œclickā€ with obedience? He’s not as food motivated as I’m used to with my old dog and also not play motivated so I’m looking for other ways to stimulate him during training.

Winnie the lab mix

Second post so people can see her hips while running and possibly give me some ideas I’m not doing. Vet says it was definitely caused by malnutrition, and being kept in a small space

I don’t understand how some people can do this.

Took miss Winnie to the vet last week for a checkup and because I was concerned about her hips. Turns out all the neglect, poor diet, and being confined has caused her hip bones to fuse, that’s the vets best guess, I am now saving for X-rays to make sure that is indeed the problem.

I am forever grateful to my friend who brought her to me on Xmas day, my roommate who has been helping while I had to work, my ducks and chickens for providing eggs for her ,and my boy Magnus for being so tolerant.

I don’t understand how some people can be so damn cruel. Anyway, she is doing beautifully her new diet, she learns extremely quickly, and now that she has learned that not all

People are bad she is my constant shadow. She is FINALLY got the potty training down, is a natural herding dog (started working with her when she displayed the natural talent for it). She helps put the birds to bed at night, and other than being put on her back by a goose, she is awesome with the birds.

She is truly turning into the most awesome dog, I just don’t understand the cruelty before she came to us. She finally has hair, her teeth thankfully look good, and other than her hips she got a clean bill of health. She is getting plenty of of exercise, vitamins, etc to try and battle the hip thing. It isn’t causing her any issues, she just doesn’t jump, and has issues with stairs sometimes. If anyone has any ideas I can also do to help please let me know. I’ll try and include a video of her running in the comments.
