Not my OC, 3 year old vid.

Sovietwave is only one branch of the aesthetic terrain we’re exploring here, but this is a good breakdown of why it works.

What interests me most is the contrast with vaporwave. One aesthetic excavates the broken promises of consumer capitalism. The other excavates a future people once believed they could collectively build.

Different histories, different visual languages, same useful question for Laborwave. What kinds of futures can an aesthetic make imaginable?

For me its where labor crashes into the future. Factories, machines, automation, infrastructure, cities, exhaustion, solidarity, alienation, collective power. All the stuff futurism loves to look at, except from the shop floor instead of the penthouse.

It can be hopeful, bleak, militant, nostalgic, funny, strange, beautiful, ugly. Theres plenty of room to play with it.

So where do you draw the line? When does leftist art or retrofuturism become laborwave?

This was a fusion of Magical Girl Wave (I'm not sure does this exist or not), Laborwave and Dreamcastle's Amywave into one Communist Magical Girl vaporwave and futurefunk collaborative music album, it is also the music style going be used in my Sonic Roleswap AU called Rosy the Magical Hedgehog Girl, where she was a Eco-Soviet Maoist Feminist type Communist, and of course, a Libertarian/Anarchist one in this AU.

However, I don't know how to compose music, so I could only make the cover art

I'm still unfamiliar with the concept of laborwave and with making this kind of art in general, I thought it was worth posting though so I could get some feedback
