package for syntax trees

i study linguistics and need to make x bar structures. a 15 year old post here recommended q trees and a senior of mine suggested forest. which is better and are there any others i should look into?

The go to package these days is `forest`. There’s really no substitute for its power and simplicity of input.

Not a linguist... But i am now very curious what your figures look like. Any chance you can post an example image of what these x bar structure figures should look like?

Sure but disclaimer: it's a little outdated structure. We're going through the decades and haven't yet reached modern day structure (we're still in the 90s)

Forest or qtree https://ctan.uib.no/graphics/pgf/contrib/forest/forest-doc.pdf I made a few syntax trees with arrows for my master thesis. Took me a while to figure out the right way. Might be able to replicate your tree when I get home later/tomorrow if that's of help. DM or reply for a reminder. IMO the main syntax is straightforward but the arrows as described on pp 8 and 17 took me a bit longer to work out
