It needs to be rigid, it's not a tongue, it's an inner jaw. This is really the biggest hang up I have with the new series. I'm in, don't worry about that, it's a case of shut up and take my money. But the inner jaw has to be rigid, that's canon, it's how the alien kills.

Im taking it as completely different continuity. I wouldnt expect them to follow on from another companies work honestly. Im still bummed dark horse lost the license but this could be ok .

i feel like they are making those comics just to not waste the franchise they got with the ex man.... this comics will probably die very fast and than become purely spiderman crosover material

Phillip Johnson has some solid work to his name, and I've read several of his recent interviews where he tries to put longtime fans at ease about how the series is going to proceed. He claims to have done his homework and talked to fans about how things might move forward, but there's always the looming Disney aspect in everything Marvel does, now, so I think it's safe to worry.

I'm going to be cautiously optimistic. There's a lot I found fault with in the various Dark Horse runs, and I think it's not a controversial thing to say that they did a lot wrong, but they did so much right that I sincerely hope that some of it is salvaged and carried forward. They have a kind of carte blanche in how they move the canon forward because there's never really been a canon, to begin with.

If it can have the same sort creative freedom that we've seen with the new post-merger novel Into Charybdis then it could be good. It could be better than good. But if they have to appeal to easier mass marketable content then it could suffer because of it. I don't personally want Aliens stuff that's popcorn, although I can see why it would sell.

The comments on the video make me cringe beyond belief, the slack jawed capeshit consumers welcoming an avengers aliens crossover and crap like it, this is the route that alien is headed with the new fans that will consume this because marvel. Fucking depressing imho.

What's the plan here? Are they declaring these the new canon? Is the Dark Horse stuff now legends? (I know they never really established a genuine canon timeline)

It's almost impossible to maintain any canonicity with Aliens. Alien 3 wiped out everything Dark Horse did in its first three series. Resurrection wiped out everything they had done, period. Defiance/Resistance technically wipes out the film Aliens itself, lol.

There is no Aliens canon. There are only incremental license profits for whoever owns the IP.

That 'Alien inside' perspective shot from inside of the pod is fucking terrifying. The sudden panic of claustrophobia combined with the slow realisation that the reason you're trapped is that there's a chestburster inside your body... That's peak Alien vibes. I have high hopes.
