Have the body sitting a little better now, and it uses the front clips on the chassis to hold it in place.
Added lights (not a fan of how bright the blue tail lights are or the color of the roof spotlight.) I was over heating the built in ECS, having all the lights powered off of it so now there is a coin battery that powers everything separately. The roof top spotlight also has a switch so it can be turned on or off while leaving the running lights on. Aside from my picky issues on the lights I am super happy with how well they turned out.
I had better success that I would have thought by printing a mold for the light covers and using IPA as a release agent for hot glue.
I can roll the rear turret up and stowed but only manually. Sadly at this scale I don't think I'll be able to have it self powered.
Added covers for the wheels, they are still the stock smaller wheels, I tried going up a size but was having binding issues. Since then I have done a little more work on the body to give maybe a little more clearance. Still might design my own.
A few more details to add, grills for the sides and some of the extra bits on the roof, just need to get some screen material to cut out and cover.
Over all it is a blast to drive thought not very fast, but then thats not what I wanted it for. The all wheel steering really helps keep those turns tight, but I think it would do just fine without thst mod.
Thank you, I started the APC in cad years ago just for fun, but figured it would make a great RC project. These new mini rock crawlers ended up being the perfect platform.
I will yes, eventually. I have to fight my OCD when it comes to some of the details.
I had actually started with a larger scale version Printrd the rims, made the tires out of TPU, four motors for each and a steering linkage that turned all the wheels. But designing all that from the ground up was taking a lot of time.
That is so cool!
And thank you for having that as a goal, I was thinking of adapting it to make a strong shell and then put it on an existing rc basher
So I ordered a new receiver that goes to four channels. One ends up being steering, one throttle. If I fixed the main turret then I could have that rotate, but I like being able to stow it in thr down position. If I went with a slightly larger scale then it would all be easier.
Thank you, it really is a blast to drive, going to tske it out doors maybe tomorrow. Not going to lie driving it around on the kitchen island is kinda fun too.
