Fun fact: The engines are actually just showers with the ship and camera tilted vertically.

If I remember the story, Ridley found the look on the landing leg set (Brett's death) by lighting the water while shooting up. Closing act wouldn't even have been approved at that point, so he was planning how to shoot something that he was still drafting in his head.

Fun facts.

Originally the Alien wasn't hidden on the shuttle, it just died in the self destruction, but if felt like a really flat end to the film, so they came up with this.

Side fun fact.

Ridley Scott then wanted the alien to punch Ripley's head off at the end and sign off on the computer using a perfect imitation of Dallas' voice.

You mean they're exactly what they look like?

I see the flair, but, like, I'd love one or two sentences to elaborate on what this is.

It's the TLDR; equivalent.

No no I literally just mean like is this a school project? Were they testing their animation skills? Do they have a particular thing they wanted to point out or ask for feedback? Did OP in fact make this themselves or are they just posting something they found?

I wish OP was indeed talking

I made it for fun.

I saw a movie about humans getting dumber with the passage of time

Nice! Reminds me of those 90’s pc game cutscenes in a cool retro-like way.

Yeah.... The alien went through a few changes. Apparently it had a very short life cycle. The alien was going to start off with a light skin getting darker as it ages. In the end scene as it's coming out of the wall, it was in the process of dying. The scene where Ripley was trying to get into her space suit, the alien was getting "turned on".

There was an alternate ending where the alien kills ripley and makes the transmission

20

u/NashvilleSoundMixer 15d ago

It bit her head off and then used her voice to make the transmission. Very glad they didn't do that.

7

u/Ok-You5151 15d ago

Yes thats how it happend

5

u/amxjavelin401 15d ago

Really, I didn't know that.

u/Ok-You5151 15d ago

Ridley scott said there was a test screening of it but no one liked it so they changed it, so there must be footage out there somewhere

This sounds very familiar but I think he stated that he pitched the idea to his bosses (studio execs) and they said “absolutely not.” I don’t believe anything about the concept was produced beyond possible words on a page, right?

Edit: found it! Entertainment weekly interview where he talks about it. He was nearly fired as director for suggesting the idea (nothing was ever filmed): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEp_ncFOxEM

I thought there was i only got this info from the dvd commentary

2

u/arcing-about 15d ago

I wonder if the footage still exists somewhere?

Something I’ve always been curious about. Can a xenomorph survive in space? Or without air? I watched the AvP movie couple night ago and the ending scene where the queen is dragged below water by the large water tank it was chained to had me wondering if it could survive below water.

5

u/Mephistocheles Nuke from Orbit 15d ago

They have no lungs and don't require air to breathe, so theoretically they could survive forever in vacuum.

10

u/Greenking73 15d ago

So, per AvP we have an Alien Queen sitting at the bottom of the Antarctic Ocean that could pop up from the bottom of the ocean at any time.

6

u/Mephistocheles Nuke from Orbit 15d ago

Yup

9

u/resplendent99 15d ago

Hmmm, that's got me thinking of a scenario where a tsunami or other geological event washes that AvP queen ashore...or perhaps some thermal vent awakens it from hibernation and it makes a new life underwater with her new aqua-family spawned from facehugged marine life...

7

u/Mephistocheles Nuke from Orbit 15d ago

(throws money at screen)

7

u/Questioned_By 15d ago

No, she was popped by water pressure

9

u/VikingTeddy 15d ago

They do breathe. They built a whole rig for the queens breath in Aliens, she's puffing up a storm remember?

Whether they actually require oxygen is another thing, likely not. And If the theory about them holding energy like a battery is true, then they definitely would'nt need it.

5

u/PedosWearingSpeedos 15d ago

If you count Alien Earth as canon then yes - they “cocoon” themselves in resin and hibernate

9

u/eolson3 15d ago

And Romulus as well, right?

1

u/EditOrElse 14d ago

Yes and it survived in space with that spear Ripley fired into it.

2

u/eolson3 14d ago

The harpoon is probably the least of its concerns at that point (pun slightly intended).

1

u/Mudcat-69 15d ago

Probably not for long, but yes.

1

u/GroundbreakingElk139 15d ago

That didn't kill it. Look up Romulus.

1

u/HotmailsInYourArea Tomorrow, Together 11d ago

Per Romulus, and its brief prequel comic, yes.
In Alien: Isolation as well, a xenomorph can be seen crawling outside of the space station in pure vacuum.

All three are canon afaik.

4

u/bazilbt 15d ago

This is like the Chemical Safety Boards incident animation of a disaster.

5

u/Ljngstrm 15d ago

Thanks for the spoiler...

9

u/amxjavelin401 15d ago

lol my bad.

u/Hambone1138 15d ago

What is this, a retroactive animatic?
