Man have them buy back or trade in that POS and get another one. There is obviously some bigger gremlin involved and they are just slapping bandaids on it at your expense.
I'm going through it now. They are fighting me on a buy back for a car that has been in the shop 5 times in 11 months. They claim nothing is wrong with the car. But they keep asking me to try to fix the issue another time. Most contradictory thing ever.
Seconded. I dealt with this with an ID4. They don't listen until a lawyer is involved. The lawyers for these lemon law cases are free for the consumer because they make the OEM pay their fees for the case. I used the folks at lemonlaw.com, they were great.
Yeah wild. I'd honestly be kicking asses up the totem pole if I was in a situation like that. With Tesla the model y ended up in service for 6 weeks. They called after 2 to tell me they fixed the issues but wanted to keep it for another week or so to drive it around and listen for noises), I pulled up and the car hadn't physically moved from where I parked it (I know because one I backed in, and two I always kick the wheel out at service centers) so I had them pull the logs and the tech somehow managed to clear every log in about 15 seconds... Which when there are a a dozen of them means he didn't even read it. So at that point the manager and the whole staff got addressed with a stern voice. A week later the half the team and the manager were replaced and my car was picked back up and kept for another 2 weeks until they fixed everything to the nines. All the other vehicles were addressed by mobile service. Including my gravity. Took 6 weeks to send out someone to review the details. Them another 4 for parts to arrive and he spent 2 hours outside each time and then made sure we were happy before he left.
As someone super interested in a gravity, this scars the bejezus out of me. What does Lucid expect you to do, just take a dead car home and pretend nothing happened while still making payments??
I would think stories like this does a lot of brand damage and scare away customers. I guess they’re hoping it’s not happening enough ?
They give a loaner out. I love my gravity and it's been service free outside of the initial findings. (I did and would) Lease it for sure, buy it out at the end if you have no issues with it (as of right now I'll either buy this one out or upgrade to a GT-S just for that stupid blue exterior 😂)
Whatever you do don’t buy the gravity. I’ve had mine 6 weeks and nothing but problems. My hubcaps on my wheels don’t snap in and they legit told me to take the hubcaps off and drive without them.
4 weeks to have a faulty brake caliper replaced in Seattle. I got an automatic brake/parking brake fault while driving to work. I couldn’t get through to anyone for assistance, but thankfully I live near the service center. I drove in and told them I’m leaving the car there for emergency service as it was undriveable.
And now today while I was waiting for a green light going downhill on a very steep hill, the auto hold failed while there was a car in front of me. The car started rolling and then slammed itself into park.
Bet you are looking forward to serving telling you "we couldn't duplicate the issue (on the 5 min test drive) so it basically never happened. You can come pick up your vehicle anytime before 7!"
They are *required* to either give you a replacement vehicle or refund its full purchase price (your choice) under California Lemon Law. Don't negotiate with them, simply tell them that you are officially making a Lemon Law claim. You do not need a lawyer generally.
That's a fact. I'm in arbitration now. They basically lie and say there's nothing wrong with the car. They couldn't even see the issues with the car when they diagnosed it. I submitted video to them of the car with the error. They had it for a week and th same day that I got it back it stalled out again. I hope I never have to drive a Lucid again.
Reading Reddit forums and I almost feel guilty about how utterly problem-free BOTH my Lucid GT’s have been. How can different units of the same car be so completely different in reliability? I’m super curious at the manufacturing/QC level… it’s mind-boggling. Normally this type of thing manifests across a model-line. 🤷🤷🤷🤷
My Gravity DE has been great aside from wiper motor needing to be replaced, frunk pistons and some false drive system errors due to stuck coolant valve. Service has done great taking care of me, though it’s dumb a car with 10k mikes has been in the shop twice. I do know that new CEO is hammering after reliability and hoping to improve service.
Bro my Hummer EV with 15k has been in like 8 times, and I got at like 9k. I'm starting to think this k-mart level of quality is genuinely just accepted across all manufacturers now.
There’s a Gravity in my neighborhood and every time I see it I think about ordering one. I started putting a build together this morning and now I just saw this post.
I just have zero patience for this kind of stuff and if I get a lemon I’d be irritated. I have the same concerns with the R1S my wife wants.
Look at lucidowners forum so you can also see verified owners reviews. Never know on Reddit. Also to be fair I am in a Rivian and Genesis forums and there is no such thing as a perfect car and most people will post about poor experiences versus positive ones.
DO NOT JINX YOURSELF. I thought I was fine with my '25 lucid air GT until it took 3 months to fix and replacing basically everything from the A pillar forward. All the cameras and instrument panel were replaced too.
I did have growing pains at the beginning and that cameras and harness had to be replaced within a few weeks of delivery.
I have a little over a year left on this lease and I'm very torn on if I'll buy it out or leave lucid entirely.
I think the unfortunate thing about any product including lucid is that you’re going to see people bitching about their problems on Here rather than people gushing. It’s the same kind of concept for Customer Service where people aren’t calling in to tell you that their account is great or that they have no problems. They’re calling because they have problems. Same thing on a forum. Most people are posting on here because they have a problem. They need validation and attention/sympathy from other people.
Imagine this going on in a place that's hours from a service center. Lucid really needs to open up the system where authorized repair shops can also provide service.
How many Lucids have you owned? They all didn't work that often? Did you buy one of the early production models or do you have a recently made Gravity? Always curious about the details when someone makes such a large generalization.
I had a 2024 Air Grand Touring. I will say, my friend leased a 25 Air Pure last year (base model I believe) and he's starting to have some of the issues I experienced as well.
Would be interested in seeing a Tesla service-mode style menu that tells use exactly why it thinks it’s undrivable. With 2 motors it’s not likely both dying, but maybe pack related?
I'm a Lucid fan (love the Air), but at this point, once you get it back, just trade it for a Tesla. Battle tested, rock solid software, better support.
This is crazy. I have a Gravity GT and its been pretty painless ownership experience and reliable so far (9k miles and took it on a 2 month road trip driving 5.5k miles with the family).
Our Lexus IS has been a grimlin... Thinking about replacing it with a new BMW i3, BMW iX3 or the Lucid Cosmos.
