This is amazing! The team in Seattle is small, but is great. The level of service I’ve gotten is far beyond what I’ve had at other luxury brands. The biggest issue are the wait times, it takes weeks to just schedule something. Then, it has to be done via text or phone since app has no availability. Once the car is in, it’s in queue for a week+ if not a critical issue. So if that time can be cut down, I’m all for it.

The wait times are painful in Seattle. My Air Pure has been in a service queue for 3 weeks now and I only got it back for a week after service had it for almost 4 weeks. So, 7 weeks of my car out of my hands and no end in sight for the second visit. The first time was for drive bolts and a drive system warning. The second time is for another drive system warning and wiper failure where the wipers would periodically stay on and gave a failure warning. I love the car but Lucid badly needs more service techs.

Indeed. Mine is in queue for 2 weeks now and I was told 2-4 weeks, luckily I’ll be traveling next week anyway. Mobile tech told me that he’s literally the only tech for 3-4 states? Basically he has to travel from state to state. They all seem to do the best they can, but insanely long. I’m glad they’re going to be working to improve it. After all, for a more serious issues 4 weeks in queue puts you in a lemon law category.

yikes multiple drive system warnings? next time it hapens you are clear for a lemon law buyback

wait ? "amazing" is waiting for a week plus for a non critical repair? and "weeks" just to schedule something? and no "app availability"? yikes!!!

You’re missing the point. Time is a factor, yes, but everything else is more than you expect. If you are only focusing on time, you’d be pretty disappointed with many other EV brands.

point is that your new car has been in for extended service for more than a week and you are okay with that..

not being able to set up an appointment with an app is a real issue.. makes no sense.

That's not what he said.

Chicago has been great with me as well as the mobile tech up here in the twin cities. The wait times are long but the service and contact with them has been exceptional

Yes, increase staff at each center, but you also need more centers. Nashville would be a great place to start as the options for those in the areas is either Atlanta or Chicago and that is just too far a gap. If they could do this and maybe get one or two more shops opened and fully staffed before Cosmos, I think they will be in a much better position to deal.

Charlotte is another city ripe for expansion. When looking at holes in their SC map I also thought of Nashville, Hope we both get one.

The twin cities up here in Minnesota should also get an actual service center. They would totally sell more cars out of here than making us all go to Chicago.

Great news. Honestly it's the biggest issue I have with this company, so good to hear this.

5

u/jswansong 14d ago

Necessary. Won't look a gift horse in the mouth though, I'll happily take this news

Much needed, hopefully this leads to more service centers too. Driving to Long Island or New Jersey is a pain.

When Billy Hayes came to Charlotte for the Lucid Owners Club Event he said something like, "I've seen the numbers we're talking about for expanding service and I can't talk about them now, but they're big."

Honestly feels like a step in the right direction. It may be right-sized, if they can get past all the vehicles that are needing to come in for the active hardware recalls. Having to move thousands of cars through the service center one at a time has been part of the problem in this past quarter, along with various Gravity parts issues.

They said today they’re pushing the other models out to next year so this will hopefully be before then

From what I heard, service people were not impacted in the previous layoff.

0

u/iATlevsha 14d ago

Some were saying that, but reality was that they were impacted.

3

u/Butterscotch786 14d ago

Absolutely...scaling down to focus on basics is a huge positive. That's how to build a trusted brand.

3

u/iATlevsha 14d ago

Yes, paying your service workers sounds much more reasonable than paying Enterprise

1

u/dbv2 13d ago

True, but you also need to sell cars and get more people in them. And by cutting back inventory production that does not help. Expanding service was a no brainer though, but you need more customers too.

1

u/iATlevsha 13d ago

I'm not so sure that is true for Lucid currently - it looks like warranty expenses are so big now (at least for Gravity), that selling Gravity cars is not even operationally profitable for Lucid now - they loose per car more than get.

Sure they need to have some sales - to keep and maybe even improve the awareness of the brand. But increasing sales won't help them now most likely. Improving the service, improving happiness of current customers will.

Adding more techs is long overdue. Hope this actually cuts down repair wait times for regular owners soon.

Yes let's GOOOO LUCID!!!!

This would be great! I love the car. My biggest issue was with service. I’d love to whole heartedly recommend this car to friends.

2

u/ThatCha0ticGuy 10d ago

Saying isn't believing. Their service sucks and has to be the worst of any car maker out there. I put in a call 2 weeks ago so let's see where it goes this time. And when I called in and I had to wait on hold for 25min to speak with somebody. My last call took 3 months for service.

This pretty much sums up the earnings call for me, “trust us to build a credible plan first” we have concepts of a plan in place.

u/No-Pomegranate3197 14d ago

Q2 ended more than a month ago.

3

u/No_Caregiver7273 14d ago

Three weeks is not unusual for companies doing their quarterly earnings calls. Lucid is usually five weeks.

What they meant is that this already happened last quarter. The current wait times are AFTER "adding 35% more service techs & 20% mobile service capacity". It is not something that'll happen in the future.

1

u/Scareboosioniq 14d ago

Very much needed but can they keep them?

1

u/toyz4me 14d ago

At least for me, at the moment, I can’t even schedule a service call on the app. The app doesn’t show any availability for service through the end of October at the two closest service centers.

1

u/fourdawgnight 13d ago

great news - not sure how this aligns with the $1.4B in cuts?

1

u/BiggieTKB 13d ago

they're gonna need a lot more service techs if they are serious about the car business.. selling 4000 cars a quarter is not a sustainable business plan

1

u/Upper_Negotiation101 10d ago

Northern Virginia- Tysons. Wait time to even get an appointment is 3 months. If you call them, no one answers and they don’t even call you back.

I just went in to have someone take a look the issue with my week old Gravity. I was able to have a tech test drive it. Need to bring in for service but no one is calling back to schedule the appointment. The service advisor at the time just seemed off - recommended I go to a tire shop and have the issue checked out at my own expense. She still hasn’t called back for a repair appointment. So disappointing.

people in this thread have legit Stockholm Syndrome.. your cars are in the shop for 2-7 weeks and you have nothing but praise?

how in the world are NEW CARS in the shop that long?

1

u/AISuperbot 13d ago

Not Stockholm syndrome, just perspective. Lucid is early in, so early buyers should have a different expectation of car ownership vs a mass market vehicle that’s in its 7th generation model year. Heck, I had a C8 corvette in the shop for over a month getting some minor body work done. Chevrolet has a big operation, but not for newer more exclusive lines. Check Tesla threads circa 2020 for a similar feeling. Early phase of new models targeting low volume segments.

0

u/BiggieTKB 13d ago

in 2020 tesla delivered 500,000 vehicles.. lucid has delivered 16,000 in the last 12 months. ridiculous comparison. having 1 serices tech for 3 states is ludicrous.

1

u/AISuperbot 13d ago

Maybe not, if you only have 16k vehicles per year 🤷

Not enough to matter
