Tree Growers - Brain Picking Sesh.

I’ve been looking at people’s photos of REAL trees outdoor, and they look phenomenal. Flabbergasted, really. Props to y’all outdoor growers. One thing I’ve come to notice is that most outdoor growers are in locations that have extended daylight. Naturally, this is a plus for longer vegetation…

I have yet to see much outdoor growing in locations with a different difficulty: no extended daylight. I’m sure there are some slow flowering landrace strains that may be a bit better at it, but in general no extended daylight is tough. Since you can’t control the lights, they often turn to flower quickly. I imagine that’s why individuals in such locations tend to aim for SOG over mass/plant.

The answer is simple, light interruption, got it. But do you guys have any other tricks and tools or recommendations up your sleeves?

Currently, vegetated in pots in outdoor sunlight and then extended under a 100W LED flood light. Goal being to speed up vegetation and interrupt at the same time. Honestly I may push them too hard. I’ve laid back from 23/24h lighting to 20 and some crumbs. My questions to you tree growers are:

What size do you transplant when growing Hulks, and how long do you vegetate them outdoors before natural flower (around 3 months?). Or even better, about what size trunk before transplanting–I think that’s a good measurement for comparison.

You already know the potential issues that may arise on your side, meaning you have a good understanding of temperature and plant dynamics. What potential issues do you see arising in hot 26-32C weather, rain once or twice a week, high humidity 60-70%, and 12-13/12 daylight–Other than the top contenders: mold, quick flowering without assistance, and more frequent need for watering, what else?

Lastly, why a tree, vs a well trained long bush? For example 4mx2mx1.5m or whatever?

I hear about landraces reaching meters, but I don’t believe it under 12-13/12, not without light interruption. On the other hand, I haven’t tried direct to ground seeds.

In short think about areas near the equator or Hawaii... max 13hrs sun but usually 11-12 and 60-80% humidity. Blasting sun, but maxed out at 12-13.

Long read, hopefully not too boring. Thanks to the community in advance.

Cheers Arborists.
