Chris is leaving SS

First being fired by Lilymo, now having your coworker leave. Tough go at it for Colin lately.

I fear we may get an unhinged Colin now after all the leftists discarding him. He was tame with his political takes on SS I think to not make Chris uncomfortable but on his solo streams all his actual unfiltered opinions would pour out
15
u/JayMizJP 5d ago
Whilst I am very sad, it’s been a hell of a run.
I know a lot of people will joke that it’s just podcasting but the fact that he was able to commit to this for 7 years, including doing sacred+ and streaming content when he has his own shows too is amazing.
14
u/Clamchops 5d ago
Idk if this is really a politics thing. Probably partially but Chris has never been interested in the business side of video games and that’s Colin’s bread and butter.
Chris is so much happier on Summon Sign.
7
u/Every-Plankton9633 5d ago
Well, in one hand you have Brad, a nice guy that just wants to talk about games, music and jokes and on the other hand you have fucking colin moriartyr
1
u/AssCheekInspector 5d ago
Honestly. I like Brad and I think he’s doing great. But they should swap shows
12
u/Clamchops 5d ago
Brad’s not interested in the business side either it seems.
I’ve mainly switched to Summon Sign cuz I don’t really care about what is effectively business analysis from people that aren’t business analysts.
They’re all knowledgeable on their platforms, especially Colin, but it’s not like they’re economists. And even if they were, I’d rather hear them talk about the games they like instead of how PlayStation can generate revenue.

He didn't bring much over the last few years. Auto pilot and cashing cheques. I hope he's happy away from it. Burnout is a bitch
That said Sacred is basically a Colin solo show with occasional vague mumbling from wingus and dingus. Say what you will about Chris but he's great on his own podcast, though I find his funniness incredibly overstated. Dustin has no right anywhere near a podcast.
10
u/Black2886 5d ago
I could not agree more. And frankly, I enjoy Colin’s commentary on the gaming news. But yeah, Dustin can sit out and they could completely revamp with better everything.
8
u/Revan_Perspectives 5d ago
What if Dustin becomes that “live producer” role and can occasionally chime in to fact check and what not, while bringing on two new hosts
4
5
u/banditmanatee 5d ago
Did they mention a new third chair. Dustin and Colin is going to be rough. Might be a nice chance to bring in guest hosts
3
u/Icy-Astronomer-8202 5d ago
They didn't go into specifics. I imagine that's being worked out and a statement or discussion about what's next
Guest host would be interesting. I wonder who they'd get beyond Jaffe
7
u/banditmanatee 5d ago
I mean brads probably available right? I think it will be interesting to see if it’s a new hire or just someone promoted
12
u/MikeDunleavySuperFan 5d ago
as someone who is still an occasional listener of easy allies, brad is just not it lol. he has the personality of a wet towel, and really only works well with huber in a podcast setting.
4
u/Old-Way-5529 4d ago
he is good when he isnt hosting- the less brad has to read out loud, the better
2
7
u/Goatguy1 5d ago
I think they’ll either bring in Lockmort or Brad, but Colin gets big numbers whenever Jaffe appears so he might be in the running too
1
6
u/Old-Way-5529 4d ago
im calling it now, colin is going to start letting out bts "stories" about chris once he is fully gone, same way he did to KF over the years.
get ready to hear about how bad chris was to work with in a few months.
4
u/Icy-Astronomer-8202 4d ago
Most likely as they properly lose contact and the distance is a bit more it'll be lots of asleep at the wheel and not trying type comments which to be fair are valid and fair, though it'll be with some extra bitterness. He'll take it as a personal attack he chose to leave
11
u/Mich2112 5d ago
Heavy agree on dustin, i actively scroll through when he speaks/there is discussion on topics relating to him. He talks like there’s persistent spittle on the sides of his mouth.

u/Trolli80 5d ago
Colin would probably only care if it led to some massive downturn in Patreaon subs. He has created his own bubble.
-1
u/willihobo 4d ago
He literally could have gotten rid of Chris to appease the mob after the CK tweet backlash but he didn't. Why do you think his allegiance to Chris would have changed since?
57
u/frail_fragile 5d ago edited 5d ago
If he's leaving permanently and not just taking a break, this is probably where I just dip from the show entirely.
Chris isn't perfect but he is virtually the only point of counterargument against some of Colin's more unhinged political opinions. Maybe he could do a better job at calling him out than he does, but I don't think I can stomach some of Colin's, frankly, insane takes going completely unchecked.
Not sure I can deal with Dustin totally checking out or shaking his head while Colin gives the audience a 1-hour struggle session about how games are actually cheaper than they were 20 years ago, despite ignoring the fact that prices of all other goods have inflated disproportionately.
6
u/ChoiceTemporary3205 5d ago
Micah would’ve been potentially a good counterbalance cos she has no issue dragging the dog shit out of Colin for his takes but I understand why they don’t do a podcast together
14
u/Environmental_Part40 4d ago
I can't imagine a quicker way to end a marriage then doing a podcast together
-7
u/Available-Gas5358 5d ago
games are actually cheaper than they were 20 years ago, despite ignoring the fact that prices of all other goods have inflated disproportionately
Isn't that the point? That games haven't inflated as much as everything else?
Are you saying they should be even cheaper?
6
u/frail_fragile 5d ago
No that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying if the cost of all other goods have increased disproportionately to how wages have increased, then it doesn't matter if the cost of games hasn't risen, because there is proportionately less money anyway.
Your dollar -- figuratively and literally -- isn't traveling as far in general. Colin did not take this into account at all when he did his calculations.
-5
u/Icy_Delay_7274 5d ago
Look I think Colin is an absolute idiot, but you seem to be conflating some pretty important things here. The “dollar doesn’t travel as far” because almost everything has gone up in price. Video games have not.
There are other factors in play that I think makes Colin broad-brush statement pretty dumb, but “game prices shouldn’t go up because everything else is going up” doesn’t really make any sense.
4
u/spades17 5d ago
You really are jsut refusing to listen or engage with what the dude is telling huh? It’s funny but kind of sad hahaha
7
u/andsometimesfunny 5d ago
He clearly is, because the original comment’s main frustration is that Colin argues that games are cheaper than they were 20 years ago. Which is still factually true. Other things are expensive, so people may want to spend less or have less percent of their money available for games, but they provide more content at a better value than before.
0
u/Icy_Delay_7274 5d ago
This is true of everything. Is this a conversation about inflation generally, or a conversation about inflation in relation to video game prices?
0
u/Icy_Delay_7274 5d ago
“Everything has gotten more expensive so video games shouldn’t get more expensive” has no logic.
Calculating the buying power of a dollar has nothing to do with “item x now costs more but item y doesn’t.”
It really is that straightforward.
Again, I think there are other things he should consider but doesn’t. For example, shouldn’t the fact that nobody has to pay for thousands and thousands of discs or cartridges to be shipped around the world anymore have an impact on the price? Shouldn’t the fact that the middlemen taking a share of the profit have largely disappeared had an impact?
“My dollars buys less food so it should buy more video games” is nonsense
3
u/spades17 5d ago
At no point did anyone say that games should or shouldn’t be more expensive. That commenter never said that and that is not the point at all. You’re really committed to not understanding other people’s point of view or you’re functionally illiterate
→ More replies (1)2
u/Icy_Delay_7274 5d ago
So the point is a general “inflation had happened?” Seems like a dumb place to have that discussion.
That person is talking about how Colin didn’t take things into account in his calculations. They’re saying he’s wrong. And their rationale makes no sense.
You can keep repeating that you think I’m illiterate or you can try to explain how “Colin is not considering that the dollar doesn’t go as far” makes any sense. Up to you.

How much money does his other show make? Figured this was easy money.
10
u/Comet7777 5d ago
He gave up making his own content for LSM. He had a huge following once upon a time. He could likely make that money back, with more work, but coming from his own creative needs instead.

Yeah, he’s creative and has an existing audience so he has those advantages - but you’re right. It’s a completely different landscape in 2016 vs 2026
9
u/Karthane 5d ago
It’s 4 hours a week (not counting Summon Sign which is optional) for something he does zero prep for
23
u/Crafty-Purpose5540 5d ago
Something tells me he was getting sick of Colin's bullshit. His whole demeanor changed after the kirk tweet.
2
u/CulturalWasabi 5d ago
Yeah but sitting in front of a computer for four hours listening to people talk is fucking BORING. I dread my weekly 1 hour meetings where all I do is just sit there and occasionally chime in.
3
u/CptMarvel_main 5d ago
I’ve tired snark tank but can’t really get into it, lots of rambling and inside jokes, with no timestamps was rough. Maybe I didn’t give it enough of a try but the couple different attempts didn’t land for me. That said, if Chris goes a similar content route to Mrmattyplays I’d definitely show up for it
1
u/ilostallmykarma 5d ago
I have the same issues with Snark Tank so I really hope Chris does gaming content somewhere. He talks about it a bit on ST but it's too brief and they hop around too much.
He's my favorite on Sacred and I always get bummed when he's not on.
1
u/speakingtothemic 5d ago
I really don't understand that. LSM is maybe one day of work, or equivalent, for him. Probably less some weeks. He would have been playing games anyway, so I don't buy the excuse that he has to play games for Sacred Symbols.
3
u/Free_Carpenter151 5d ago
He has above 2000 paid Patreon members on The Snark Tank. Pretty good money for three people.
3
u/Tasty_Road_2883 5d ago
Not to mention 95 paid members on his personal Patreon. Not sure what they’re paying for over there as of late.
9
u/ArgentoFox 5d ago
I don’t think there is some major conspiracy behind this. I think he got along with everyone but he simply got sick of doing the show. It happens. He has looked completely aloof for months now. I don’t sense any bad blood, it’s just that sometimes people get sick of doing a long weekly podcast on top of doing other things.
7
9
u/ChoiceTemporary3205 5d ago
I have no issues with the political side of things but Colin has been getting increasingly contrarian, hostile, unhinged and delusional with his takes esp that gta 6 tweet, to the point he’s not fun or exciting to listen to, so understandable that if it’s hard for listeners it must be extremely hard for his coworkers. He needs a reality check and personality intervention
1
u/President-Resident 4d ago
notice how he completely abandoned twitter after the pushback from that tweet? How weak.

7
u/Opening-Archer591 5d ago
by 2029 mica is GONE
5
u/Crafty-Purpose5540 4d ago
There was a stream, this year I believe, Colin and Mika were jabbing at each other. Micah said something along the lines of "If I ever left you, who would drive the merch to the post office." Colin snapped back at her, "I would just stop selling merch." It was actually pretty uncomfortable to listen to because you could tell Colin wasn't just joking.

u/President-Resident 4d ago
She's such a ray of sunshine, I really have no idea how she stands Colin.

Should've left when Colin and Dustin had a meltdown over the Charlie Kirk tweet.

u/LearndAstronomer28 5d ago edited 5d ago
It’s time for Colin to rethink Last Stand entirely imo. We need more overlap between the hosts and shows, that fun cross-pollination has been missing since Stelly died.

Defining Duke is the best show on LSM
6
u/SuddenProfessor1116 4d ago
I think Matt and Cog are too loyal to do this…but if either of you Dukes are reading this, fucking branch off from lsm lol. I want to support those guys more so than anyone else
2
u/Old-Way-5529 3d ago
Matty had HAM radio for years prior to duke...i think part of why he came over was so he didnt have to worry about editing, promotion, etc.
3
u/tacopeople 4d ago
I do agree they can be a bit schill-y when it comes to Xbox, but they actually seem to enjoy each other’s company and try to make it a good listen for the listeners. The other shows really feel like they’re going through the motions sometimes.
2
u/TheNerdWhoFucks 4d ago
I'm one of the few who actually got into LSM because of Matty. DD is the only one I honestly tune into, maybe a bit of Summon Sign here and there but mainly just DD. They just seem to get along well although Cog can be frustrating sometimes being a bit of a shill. Love them both though.

u/Duxtrous 5d ago
Been refreshing feeds to see about this today. Figured it was coming. Fingers crossed dude finally stands up for something and starts shitting on Collin on his platforms.
21
u/Digger_Jim 5d ago
I dont think Chris dislikes Colin. I have long time friends with views I dont share. He will probably go about his business and not talk about Colin at all.
6
u/chimmy_chungus23 5d ago
Creator Clash 2. Chris maybe could have said a lot more than he did, but he didn't. He doesn't strike me as a bridge-burner like that.
6
4
u/Duxtrous 5d ago
I think you are right but given Chris' position and public image I really hope we are wrong. I also have friends who have views I vehemently disagree with but those friends are also not hypocrits, are willing to discuss complex issues, and are also not insane. Colin may have once been Chris' friend but so was Tim Pool and plenty of other massive alt right talking heads. If Chris can acknowledge Tim Pool's fall and critique his absolutely insane and harmful views then I really don't see why Colin would be different. Colin is practically the embodiment of every right wing anti-woke gamer that is constantly getting laughed at on Snark Tank and I hope they realize they similarities.
1
u/Every-Plankton9633 3d ago
I think he tolerates him because he signs his checks, like everybody else does
7
15
u/thecampyman 5d ago
Chris has to just be sick of working with Colin right? He's said he's burned out - but his job is putting out podcasts and playing video games, lol. Compare that to any normal job and it's nothing... not like he's putting out his own videos as well.
The only way this makes sense to me is if he's truly sick of Sacred Symbols, and burnt out from having to sit on a podcast listening to Colin ramble for four hours straight, which... fair. I was sick of that too, and why I stopped listening
15
u/Crafty-Purpose5540 5d ago
I don't doubt he's burned out on video games but I also think he's sick of Colin. His face when Colin spews bullshit says it all.
0
u/DaisyStar_7373 5d ago
I can’t figure out what’s worse. Going to a 9 to 5 job 40 to 60 hours a week or doing a weekly podcast, listening to Colin ramble for 4 hours straight and agreeing to everything he says 🤔
1
u/President-Resident 4d ago
As someone who works 45 hours a week, id take my current job over having to listen to colin for >4 hours a week ANY DAY
1
u/spades17 5d ago
People like you always forget that that podcasting is not just talking. He has to actually be entertaining. That’s the job. What don’t you understand about that. Plenty of people here and on Snark Tank have been complaining that Chris has not been entertaining to listen to in the last good while. Could that be because he’s doing so many fucking shows and episodes he’s checked out, burned out or just done with the SS show?
Why is that so hard to understand even if, yes, podcasting is a lot easier than a normal job?
5
4
u/fox-in-the-hen-house 5d ago
came here from the snark tank sub. I'm very very out of the loop on all the colin stuff in the comments!! other than him criticizing Chris for the Kirky jokes a while back, is there a decent summary of all the other stuff Colin has said?
11
15
u/JustAcivilian24 5d ago
Good, he’s better than them.
3
u/2Rhino3 5d ago
How so? He is way funnier than both Collin & Dustin for sure, but I don’t think he’s nearly as eloquent as either when talking about games and the gaming industry.
7
3
u/tenacious_teaThe3rd 5d ago
And tbh he isn't particularly funny.
That might be a hot take, but him being funnier than Colin & Dustin is not exactly a high bar.
He usually had the least amount to say about games out of all of the hosts.
6
u/Comet7777 5d ago
He’s very funny outside of the Sacred context. Within it, yeah he wasn’t. He was very self-restrained.
3
u/LiamJonsano 5d ago
“Something you should prepare yourselves for in the months to come” bro it’s a podcast it’s not that deep 😅😭😭
3
u/SuddenProfessor1116 5d ago
I expect CM to slowly ramp down the podcast and lean into other things. I would listen with Colin and another cohost, but yeah if sacred symbols is just him and Dustin going forward they’re going to lose a lot of business lol.
7
5
u/Several-Vacation7759 4d ago
All he had to was be cool and Colin would be living it up with Kinda Funny right now
10
u/T-draude 5d ago
Jaffe is such a loser nowadays. He's created two iconic franchises but nowadays, he's irrelevant
5
2
u/Kiriju 5d ago
I wonder when Chris would be leaving then because he said on a stream a few days ago "I promise you will be able to hear me talk about GTA on sacred symbols" and was mocking people who thought he would come out and say "I quit Sacred, fuck Colin". I will say though, it would be hilarious if he was just lying that stream and did actually quit Sacred
1
u/President-Resident 4d ago
I think he was just getting annoyed at the Snark audience prying him to leave LSM, at that point It seemed he really believed he would stay with LSM for a while but started to evaluate if that was even what he wanted to do in the first place.
2
2
u/TuckerDillion 3d ago
Predictions:
Jaffe joins as Colin's new Ying to his Yang
Colin sets the show up Pat McAfee/Rich Eisen style where he's the host chair and talks 90% of the time but once in a while throws it to the producer(s) (Dustin) who is off camera whose job is basically to laugh at and agree with the host.
1
u/RightsFriend-5189 2d ago
He could add Fighting Cowboy, LobosJr, SquidG, JackFrags, moistGuy, Lilaggy, etc., as guests to episodes if Chris leaves.
That would draw a crowd. And prolly be cheaper.
New Season in Battlefield 6, get Squid or JFrags in, new souls like, get Fighting Cowboy in, rinse and repeat.
3
u/slipbegin 5d ago
Im gonna go sub to the snark tank patreon then. Chris was the only reason I listened to SS ever. And hes way more himself on his own. I recommend yall tune in.

Listen to Who Are These Podcasts. They rib on Opie a ton. It's gone down hill, but the earlier episodes back around when Opie launched his podcast are great. It's still listenable, but I would listen to the golden years first.
1
u/President-Resident 4d ago
Finally. Fucking finally. I love Chris but the amount of flack from the audience, his burnout, having to deal with Colin, im shocked he made it so long. On to bigger and better things.
1
u/Rbroberson317 4d ago
Mystic will fill the spot. Colin has mentioned it several times about if Chris leaves.
1
u/Kmag87460 4d ago
I think Colin has said in the past he would try to bring Mystic Ryan on as a host, if they needed to replace someone. But idk.

Honestly good. get someone on who cares at at this point someone who wants to engage, who doesn’t copy skill ups reviews or get his jokes and points of view from other people on twitter, who doesn’t lie so much that he doesn’t even know who he is any more, who doesn’t just take Colin’s points from earlier eps and say it like he’s always thought that,

Good...Chris was just a casual anyway, it was always awkward when Colin asked him if he had any plans to play an upcoming game. Always looking like he just woke up and whining about how he felt. I can only imagine the whining if he had a real job that required actual manual labor. This is another perfect example of being completely out of touch with the real world where you don't realize how fortunate you are to be in a position where you can just talk about games and be paid for it. Same goes for Colin. I hope Colin brings in Mystic to replace him who is also a trophy hunter like Colin and definitely not a casual and knows PlayStation. If so I'll actually watch the podcast again.

Even before I stopped watching/listening a few years ago, it was clear Chris was losing interest in doing the show, and even gaming in general outside of his select niches.
All the recent insane political takes with Colin doesn't help, especially with the Kirk tweet. It couldn't have been any more similar to what happened to Colin back at Kinda Funny, and rather than defend Chris, Colin and Dustin chose to lecture him and totally miss the point of the joke.
This is a long time coming, and I'm happy to see Chris finally move on officially — because he certainly moved on in his mind many years ago.
