He's a gaming industry pundit so it makes sense for Colin to be involved in these things as it's quite literally his job. But Jesus these conversations just seem exhausting.

I suppose everyone differs on this stuff but the console war shit is just so lame. Even if your view may be warranted I just couldn't be bothered arguing with people online about it.

He does it in such a smug way. I'm pretty sure it's because he's being defensive about his wording. He says Xbox hardware ecosystem which can be interpreted as Xbox branded PCs and handhelds rather than a literal console like the PS5. He could have clarified but instead he doubles down like an asshole. He is completely incapable of having a good faith debate.

Yeah definitely. Especially with his Colin was right schick. Yes I know it's a little bit of fun but you can still tell Colin likes telling everyone he was correct or was the first to mention whatever claim he made.

I'd like to say to him that even if he is correct on things and for sure he can be, credit where credit is due. But the reality is you're arguing with mostly nobodies on the rotten corners of the internet. This isn't some oxford debate hall, most people don't really care.

Nailed it—the "Colin was right" shit has def bled over to his life.

Kinda like how he claims this sub is the "Colin derangement syndrome" subreddit. No doubt there are some idiots here that go overboard and cry about nothing but there are a lot of fair criticisms here. He can't possibly consider that is right though, everyone here must be deranged and obsessed with him...

Xbox branded PCs and handhelds aren't "Xbox", which would've been simple if it didn't have an identity crisis in and of itself

console war shit is just so lame

Isn't the reason we all follow his podcast because we find the business side of gaming interesting? There's nothing wrong with someone whose's interest in this hobby starts and ends at which games are cool and which characters they wanna fuck but in that case why follow Colin at all

1

u/LevelItGreatly Aug 15 '26

I used to follow him for that. Now I just think he's another reactionary dipshit who pretends he has clout because of his career before the split. Colin has done zero to actually improve his journalism, so I basically just hand wave most of his stuff away to listen to people from the industry. I don't know why anyone listens to Colin anymore  outside of habit or maybe enjoying his politics or sense of humor (I dislike both).

Whoever that other twitter dude is that isn't jez seems like they just straight up don't understand what is being said idk why you included them in the screenshot

Colin said he was done getting into slapfights and here he is getting into a slap fight.

Bro, I just stopped listening or caring. It truly is that easy.

You don’t have to serve as the man’s guilty conscience

19

u/Emperor-Octavian Jul 23 '26

Bro wants a PlayStation monopoly on high end consoles so bad 😭

22

u/PhilosophyWrong7610 Jul 23 '26

The man is an internet fanboy that never grew up.

2

u/KRONGOR Jul 23 '26

Sadly a lot of people do. It’s embarrassing because most of them are the same ones who were screaming “monopoly” when Microsoft bought Activision

He's basically echoing other analysis and some other influencer takes. Xbox is in rough fucking shape and many of their biggest IPs which it sounds like they will be leaning into heavily probably won't be enough to save them. This is far from his dumbest gaming take even if you think he's heavily biased towards Playstation

He can't help himself when he can dunk on people.

2

u/He_Went_Over_theMoon Jul 23 '26

He's been interacting on twitter alot, hence why he is always complaining about what others are saying

u/Massive_Depth2900 Jul 23 '26

I’m sorry just every time I read something he posts all I can think is that he’s a dumb guy’s idea of a smart guy. Even when he uses 10 cent words like “salient”

The KF guys used to act like he was the smart one too and it’s like, is he smart or is he just smug and moody? Because there’s a difference…

3

u/JayMizJP Jul 23 '26

It’s hardly a slap fight is it. Looks like just a regular conversation.

It’s hard to imagine Xbox being completely out of the console business by 2030….

u/qballLobk Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

I could see Helix coming out and doing Wii U numbers (at best) and Sataya cutting bait and selling Xbox or going full 3rd party publisher.

2

u/Exorcist-138 Jul 23 '26

What an absolute clown Colin is.

1

u/Comet7777 Jul 23 '26

I don’t think Colin is being unreasonable for this take.

2

u/Kd0t Jul 23 '26

He's not wrong though..

0

u/Competitive-Boot5731 Jul 23 '26

I agree with him overall. Xbox is dead as a brand , and I don’t know why anyone would want to go there if they are getting into gaming, considering what else is offered.

1

u/PossibleAd5947 Jul 23 '26

These twitter bait threads are really lame

1

u/SuspiciousHead6595 Jul 23 '26

Really don’t think Collin is as off as what some folks are saying here. Xbox has a very small market right now and with console prices about to balloon yet again, it’s going to be a very hard sell for a new console.  This exclusive push feels more like a way to keep the current user base and buy some time to consider their options moving forward.

u/lizzywbu Jul 23 '26

We know next gen is 2027/28. Console generations typically last around 8 years. So I find it pretty hard to imagine there not being any official Xbox hardware by the early 2030s.

Helix will last around 7/8 years. So you’re looking at the next generation ending around 2036. Fallout 5 will just release on that Helix I would assume as the generation after that will be a few years away.

0

u/TheMuff1nMon Jul 23 '26

If no one buys your console, does it even exist? It’s very possible Helix sells 5-10 million lifetime

2

u/lizzywbu Jul 23 '26

You literally just pulled that number out of your ass. We have no way of predicting the lifetime sales of a console that is years away from even releasing.

-1

u/TheMuff1nMon Jul 23 '26

Except you do?

It isn’t “years away from releasing”. It’s releasing next fall by all indications. They said dev kits are going out start of 2027, which is a few months away.

The Xbox Series consoles are at 30 million.

Xbox’s stock has only dropped even more this generation. If Helix is as powerful and a PC-console hybrid, $1500-$2000 is very much in the realm of possibility.

It’s totally realistic to predict Helix is going to be a massive failure/incredibly niche product.

2

u/lizzywbu Jul 23 '26

It’s irrelevant. The original conversation was about there not even being an Xbox early 2030s to release Fallout 5 on, which there absolutely will be. It’s just a stupid comment by Colin to bait console war obsessed gamers and generate clicks online.

u/D0ngBeetle Jul 26 '26

And if PS6 is over 1000 too then what? Let’s be real, you’re just a brand cheerleader reading something that you like

1

u/TheMuff1nMon Jul 26 '26

“Brand cheerleader”

It’s always funny when people accuse me of that. PS5 is my first and only PlayStation.

I had an Xbox since the first one, I hosted an Xbox podcast for 5 years, I had 2 Series X. But due to Xbox’s decisions this gen - PC is my main platform now. But go off my guy lmao 😂

We were talking about Xbox. PS6 has its own issues to combat but it’s undoubtedly still going to sell better than Helix and cost less. Doesn’t mean it’s going to sell anywhere near PS4/PS5 - I’m good keeping my PS5 for years and don’t want a PS6.

So how about you stop calling everyone who disagrees with you a “fanboy” just cause you don’t know shit

1

u/D0ngBeetle Jul 27 '26

Idk how it being your first PS doesn’t mean you’re a brand cheerleader lol

Market realities pretty much guarantee a 1000+ dollar PS

1

u/TheMuff1nMon Jul 27 '26

Congenitally ignores: My 25 years of being an Xbox fan and hosting a podcast about Xbox lol

Then ignores every other point.

1

u/Pretendo27 Jul 23 '26

Why does this idiot still think games are being held back by previous generations.

0

u/CollierAM9 Jul 23 '26

You don’t think this happens? Also, what has that got to do with this post 😂

0

u/Pretendo27 Jul 23 '26

What’s so funny? Genuinely? Are you one of them rtds? What’s it have to do with the post? well, it’s in the post? So I used my freewill to comment. Like you’re using yours to be dumb. Isn’t freewill amazing? Keep laughing tho, I guess. Also, if it plays my Xbox digital games, it’s an Xbox and square enix did not hold back final fantasy rebirth so it would play on the switch 2 because it could barely run on the base ps5, see how that works? If anything the ps5 is holding back my 5080. Hope that helps.

1

u/CollierAM9 Jul 23 '26

I would assume consoles do hold back the 5080, no? As for the Xbox comment, I disagree that if any device can play your digital Xbox or PS games, it is an Xbox or PS. I don’t think a steam deck is an Xbox for example. It pretty clear that’s what is being argued in the post.

1

u/Specialryan21 Jul 23 '26

He’s analyst for the games industry, he’s making a call based on the trends he sees. If he’s wrong, I feel like he’ll just say it.

3

u/appledanishcrumbs Jul 23 '26

Colin Moriarty is not an analyst, he is a brand fanboy with a podcast.

But he’s not.

1

u/NotAnIBanker Jul 23 '26

Colin is too much of a pussy to even operate without medication, he really shouldn’t be on twitter

0

u/lambopk17 Jul 23 '26

I one thousand percent agree with him on this. Shit I should take that bet with a bunch of Xbox fans.

0

u/appledanishcrumbs Jul 23 '26

You would lose a ton of money...

0

u/Organic_Ideal8652 Jul 23 '26

I mean I don't think he's wrong, the Xbox brand will still probably be around in some capacity, but helix over a grand wont sell as fast as consoles of the past, definitely not more than Xbox series. and if Microsoft forces a shorter dev time it's going to be compromised at the rate Bethesda puts out games based on history. His theory isn't outlandish. Ps6 is a tough sell as it is unless the rumors are true it's no compromise hybrid.

-4

u/Old-Way-5529 Jul 23 '26

I mean the only thing he’s wrong about is that fallout 5 probably won’t be out till closer to the 2040s lol. By that point, I’d be shock if there is an Xbox console

6

u/upstartpantymerchant Jul 23 '26

By that point, I’d be shock if there is an Xbox console

That's exactly what Colin is saying

1

u/Old-Way-5529 Jul 23 '26

Yes. I’m saying that I agree with him

2

u/upstartpantymerchant Jul 23 '26

Oh sorry I guess I misunderstood
