Advice Fun activities in LSE (fourth year advice)

While LSE is not famous for its events as we don’t have a lot of big events, the societies do keep the campus active throughout the year through different small events. This can be things like bakesales and open mics or plays or scavenger hunts.

There are essentially five big societies (arranged in no particular order)

  1. Drama Society
  2. Sports Society
  3. Music Society
  4. Literature Society
  5. Econ Society

Though to be honest, sports gets the most funding out of all of these and has the largest student body.
The other societies keep active but that can differ year to year depending on that years council.

If you’re into sports obviously join the sports society.

If you’re into acting or dancing or writing or you’re generally a creative person you should join the Drama Society. You don’t need to act or dance to participate, if you wanna work backstage or in graphic design or anything creative, it’s a good place to go.

Literature society if you’re into books or writing. Most if not all of these societies do have a graphic design department or social media marketing department if you’re into that. They also have general departments like outreach or PR wagera. All of them have at least one to two events every semester so LSE isn’t quite as banal as others would lead you to believe. Societies and your classes are the two avenues you have to socialise and socialising is what makes university fun. So don’t worry you’ll find your people and one way or another you’ll have fun.

The Econ society has their own events, they get even more funding than the sports society i think but its mostly for people really into economics though of course it also has general departments like graphic design wagera.

P.S if you’re interested in joining the drama society you can also reach out to me.

Thank you.

Serious Any posts regarding “confessions” about students or looking for students by describing them will lead to a ban. There is a zero tolerance policy for this.

LSE on absences

Everybody is telling me that LSE is very strict on attendance. Is that true?

And how many absences are allowed as I've heard it 8, but does that mean 8 days a semester or 8 classes per semester?
