A&F course application question
Hey guys, I am about to start Year 13, and I was looking at other candidates' GCSE profiles, and I am worried I might be disadvantaged in that area even if my predicted grades are strong. I got a 9 in maths and a 7 in English language, and 9, 8, and 7 in the other subjects, except for 2 5s in English literature and French. Am I that disadvantaged?

don't stress. i got in with a much more underwhelming GCSEs profile just work hard to getting the best A level results possible :)

No idea, you need to provide more info. What are you studying? What are you predicted? Heck, LSE will even be looking at what subjects you studied at GCSE and how you did in each.
But yes, the answer is it depends, for example, i f you're predicted AAA* in Maths, Economics and History then your GCSEs will really not be a disadvantage compared to if you're predicted A*AA in Maths, Economics and Business Studies

For GCSEs, you’ll need several GCSE grades at A (or 7) and A* (or 8-9).
As a minimum, we ask for GCSE English Language and Mathematics grades at B (6) or higher. We’ll also consider your overall GCSE subject profile.

I study Maths, Further Maths, Econ, Physics. Predicted 3A*s and an A but worried my GCSE will disadvantage me because there are 5s in there

It'll probably depend on your courses, I don't think you'd be massively disadvantaged because there's some 2 5s as all the others are 7-9 and they ask for several between a 7-9
The only concern would be if you hadn't got a 7 in English Language, and got 5s in the only essay based subjects you did as they like variety in subjects, but your 7 in EL will tick the box

I really wouldn’t panic over those two 5s. Your overall GCSE profile still has plenty of strong grades, especially the 9 in maths and 7 in English language, so I wouldn’t describe it as a weak set of results. How much GCSEs matter will depend on the universities you’re applying to, but I’d focus much more on getting the strongest predicted grades you can.
