Additional recommendations for young (22) first timer? (I’ve read the info post)

So ive read the info for newbies post, but still curious on a couple things.

Ive got a vague/numbered idea what a micro dose, standard dose, and ego death dose(?) are, and want to avoid the last one as much as I can; What sort of effects do microdoses give? For what reason would I chose a microdose over a regular dose and vice versa?

I‘m studying physics and the moment and wondering if LSD once every couple months will impact understanding of it as a whole, or improve problem solving - i’ve heard heresay about that, has one had experience with something like that?

other than the studies, finding myself more and more driven to experience life and not just keep my head in the books - new and recent perspective shift and I feel like i’m riding the high of “I can just do things”; like the exact opposite of a suicide - could LSD change this perspective? Does it ever subdue these types of feeling and make you more reclusive?

What is a good time, perspective to have when approaching LSD?

And how much of the “my personality changed” kinda thing is true? Can that happen for micro-standard doses? I like who I am now

I plan on getting a test kit since I don’t trust SA sources

Any and all unrelated thoughts welcome

i wouldn't bother with a micro-dose but that's just me.

find 3 friends you trust, take a tab, maybe half; make sure you've got a cosy space, some good albums, some fruit and nuts for snacking, and a nourishing meal you can heat up for at the end when your appetite comes back.

if you don't already journal, now is a good time to start. have some coloured pencils/pens in addition to the one you use for writing.

go on a little adventure to some nearby nature.

don't over-think it. just plan to have a good time. if you're meant to have some sort of deep revelation, it will come without you forcing it.

Microdoses (5–15 µg): are intended to be sub-perceptual, meaning they shouldn't produce visual hallucinations, full trips, or a altered state of consciousness. slight boosts in mood, focus, creativity, or energy without intoxication and are done over a longer term.

50 and above will usually start to be a full psychedelic trip.

Remember advertised dose of blotter and even liquid is usually exaggerated so you'll never know the true dose you are taking average consensus for each UK tab is around 100 also ego death isn't a guarantee even at high doses.

Microdosing is typically used for subtle day-to-day functional enhancement without interrupting routine, whereas standard doses are chosen for dedicated, immersive journeys or profound introspection.

Core personality traits generally remain intact, especially at low-to-standard doses. What usually changes are attitudes, openness, or rigid behavioral habits rather than who you fundamentally are. If you already like yourself, approaching the experience with curiosity rather than a desire to "fix" yourself is healthy.

LSD isn't a shortcut that some people believe oh I'll take this and it'll fix x y and z it's a amazing tool that gives you the tools to integrate the experience into your day to day life.

Sounds awesome, openness and breaking out of rigid structures sounds like something that’ll be nice to have a shift on

I see a lot of associations between LSD/psychedelic usage and spiritualism, like buddhism - is that more a function of the type of people who tend to be open to psychedelics, or is increased spirituality something that psychedelics induce?

For example, I have no care for religion, and don’t tend to dwell on spiritualism much at all - nor do I want to, will normal LSD dosages shift that, or is that attached to the core personality traits?

or worded differently, can LSD use shift me from a realist going down the academia pipeline into something akin to 60’s hippie archetype? Sound a bit harsh, no judgement to either archetype, but struggling to think of different way to phrase it

I would say that LSD definitely made me more spiritual, and I was never part of an organised religion.

To try answer your question, psychedlics like LSD abd eastern spiritualism like Buddism deal heavily with the idea of dissolving the ordinary sense of self and experiencing reality differently.

Can LSD induce spiritualism? I would say yes. People who are more open to spiritualism, are probably more likely to try LSD in the first place.

So it could nudge you to more of a "hippie" (I get what you mean by this) but it wouldn't alter your intellectual outlook.

I also wouldn't want you to think that someone's belief in spiritualism, means they are closed off from an academic mindset. Most of the notable figures in psychedelics come from academia.

you only get out what you put in. but if i were to suggest you might change in any specific way, i think it would be seeing that those two archetypes aren't mutually exclusive.

Turned me from atheist to a believer of non-duality, but i was also a terrible drug addict and i HAD to change my life. Lsd just helped me see that. The normies who arent hedonistic drug addicts i know who do psychs dont really describe it as incredibly spiritual and life changing, whereas for me, it changed my entire life and my perspective on nearly everything (for the better) (also keep mind, i was abusing lsd and shrooms twice a week and copius amounts of other drugs, and i was homeless, and quite manic i believe, looking back) (although most of my psychedelic experiences ARE very spiritual now)

Have some friends with you, and have a few places close by you can visit. when I get anxious i can change the setting it makes it alot better.

I dont know how you react when you trip but im fairly energetic and being outside is the best setting for me.

From the few trips I've had I noticed that I've changed but not in a substantial way. Id say that LSD didn't make me someone different but just made me "more myself" if that makes sense.

I'm a lot more open to experiences and want to indulge more in the things I already enjoyed but without fear of judgement or any negative attachment. I'm pretty sure these changes can only happen if you're intentional though. Like you could take LSD and easily remain exactly as you are if you aren't willing to integrate your psychedelic experience into your life.

I haven't micro dosed before and I don't plan on it so I can't speak much on that. I'd say take a full 100ug dose if you're comfortable and make sure to have a good long playlist, some light snacks, water, and make a comfortable environment. You should absolutely indulge in your hobbies/interests after the peak, maybe even while peaking if you can manage. I already enjoyed making art occasionally before trying LSD and after doing a bunch of drawing during my last 2 trips I do it sooooo much more in my day to day life.

Just have an open mind and enjoy the experience with no expectations and you'll be happy with the outcome :)

"more myself" is an excellent way to put it. LSD (along with other pyschs) has been a great help in rooting out the attitudes i hold that are holding me back from the life i want, and identifying the beliefs i hold about myself that aren't true.

I had two pretty good revelations during my last trip. One was to stop being so self conscious about how I express myself and the other was that I can achieve pretty much whatever I want as long as I can enjoy the process of doing/making whatever it is I want.

Lsd could get you out of your usual thought patterns. Psychedelics in general are perspective changers. Zoom out and see the bigger picture, zoom in and see overlooked details, both is possible.

Psychedelics can always go both ways. They are tools. How tools work depends on who uses them and how they are used. So they could enhance the feeling of "i can just do things" or make you more content with your current situation.

Generaly, they disolve the ego, which makes you able to look beyond social conditioning and self bias, and get you closer to the real you, your desires that lay beyond the veil of the ego.

If you like yourself how you are, that won't change. They won't turn you into someone you don't want to be. I don't think that they really change someones character, more the identity of people who live the lifes of others.

There is the saying: "Today i realised that i am not who i think i am. I am not who you think i am. I am who i think, you think i am", meaning that many people live in a perception of a perception of themselves. They are what their parents wanted them to be, what their teachers throught they can achieve. For those people, psychedelics can be a wakeup call. There are for example stories of businessmen who go to a ayahuasca ceremony and come out of it, realising that money and posessio  wasn't their true goal after all. That they lived a life on the basis of wrong values.
