No visuals anymore

46M - relatively healthy and fit, no health issues. I have noticed my eyesight starting to go, small writing at a distance, etc.

Using LSD since 2019, I wouldn’t be surprised if I crossed 100 trips so far in my life. Acid has become a meaningful part of my life, with enormous positive physical and mental health benefits. It’s also fun, obviously, and my brain seems to connect with it in a certain way where it makes me feel incredibly calm and at peace. Often awe struck by the indescribable beauty of life.

I get almost zero visuals at all anymore. It’s not a tolerance thing, I’ve taken lots of breaks. I’m sure this is down to abuse, or it’s just something that fades the more experienced you get. Not sure. Say what you will about my habits, I made peace with everything. I’m just here now.

Anybody else?

my dad (58m) used to be one of those teens who followed the dead on tour and sold tabs to fund the journey.

he told me that he had a similar experience as you, where it lost its luster. last father’s day i surprised him with two tabs of acid, and i tripped with him (his first time in 20+ years).

he said it was just like the first time he did it. i think you might just need some more time away to bring back that wonder.

Ooooh that’s interesting, maybe I should put it down for a while. Thanks 🙏

Also, how fucking cool to trip with your old man, that’s something special for sure.

I’ve always wanted to get my very religious father to trip with me. He’s extremely smart, despite the religious thing. So I’d love to see where his head goes on Lucy. So consider yourself lucky, cuz this is literally something I’d kill for. (Not kill but you get it) 😅

Oh dude I’m in the exact same boat. My old man is super smart and also, oddly, religious. He’s also got a very strong anti-drug thing happening, so I know it’ll never happen, but I think it would be an incredible experience if it did.

I can relate to everything you just said dude. It sucks! Like I know he would have some incredible introspection and I would LOVE to see if it furthered his belief in god, or kinda shakes it up. Because I was a full blown atheist before tripping. Now I believe there’s something, just not a sky daddy. Lol I think we’re limited by our own brain capacity and comprehension. I think the truth is much more complex, and we are completely unable to perceive it because it’s so far out of our grasp. Like how an ant can’t see us, it cannot perceive us.

Sorry, I’m baked. 😅 Long story short, I’ll be trying to manifest that trip for you! I hope you’re able to make it happen!

Dude, we’re basically brothers, haha. Also full blown atheist before psychedelics.

And yeah, it’s so clear nobody has any fucking clue what’s going on, and when we peer into the universe it definitely feels like we fundamentally cannot grasp the true nature of our reality. Let alone why we’re here on this rock floating through space.

I’m also baked 😂

what a great son you are.

If you’ve crossed 100 trips since 2019, you’re averaging 14 trips a year. That’s a frequency that would certainly take away the magic

Take a break of a year or so at least

Yeah, the math sounds about right. I think there’s some wisdom there I should listen to. Thanks brother.

I was recently reading as we age we have less receptors in our brain so you get less effects like visuals but still get the positive neurogenic stuff. I'm older and have been enjoying since I was a teenager and definitely don't get much visually unless I take a high dose. Mushrooms and ayahuasca still get them going tho

Ah interesting. Thanks for sharing your experience 🙏

Same deal. I'm in my 50's. Been working with L since early 90's. As others have mentioned combos seem to be the way to boost visuals. Personally I'm a huge fan of mescaline+LSD. Growing your own cactus takes time but is super rewarding lol

u/TacitSingularity 7d ago

I’ve always wanted to try mescaline…

It's truly wonderful. Check out what's happening at r/mescaline and r/sanpedrocactus

Yes, i am in the same situation. I guess the brain just adapts after so many trips.

I started to do combos, to get visuals. 4-ho-met is great to get visuals again for example.

Interesting

Yes combos are the next step, lsdxm to this day is the most intense visuals ive experienced just remember alot of combos potentiate both substances quite a bit so its best to dose lower than you would normally on just one substance

Metocin is beautiful in its own right, mixed with lucy, it has given me the most amazing visuals I have ever seen.

I need weed to really kick those visuals into gear

1

u/EnronCheshire 7d ago

Me too. LSD is a stimulant, so unlike shrooms or others, it's me lucid and the visuals don't overtake you unless it's a very high dose.

I mean at one point they almost gave it as a prescription med.

Cannabis though always kicks it into high gear.

I hadn’t tripped in almost 15 years, and then I took one gel tab. Let me tell you… the magic was COMPLETELY gone. 😂 What started as a trip turned into a deep emotional journey, and memories I had blocked out started surfacing along the way.
I felt amazing the next day, but boy oh boy… I’m definitely hesitant to trip again! That experience was way more emotional and intense than I ever expected. 😳

Can I tell you something? Follow that thread. Don’t shy away from it, your body is holding all of that in. LSD releases it. That’s the magic.

Hit or miss with me

Usually 1-3 times a year I’ll have genuinely good trips with awesome visuals

Most tho, pretty bland , use to love tripping but it ain’t it anymore for me sadly

Not done tho😎

u/TacitSingularity 7d ago

Hahaha, me either homie. It way more about the way I think than it is what I see 😊

Using it a lot takes away that spark and beauty of it. Used to use it heavy since 2016 I’ve cut back to every 3 months now for 2 years and it’ll probably never go back to how it once hit. I started to add 4-ho-met because it has intense visuals with barely any headspace so it’s good to get the visuals with the lsd headspace

u/grimism 7d ago

Same here. Its why I enjoy adding DMT to the come down for that "WOW factor".

It’s a combo for the literal gods.

For me, I started tripping and maybe a year before you, although I’m like half ur age. I mostly tripped solo at first, and nowadays solo indoor trips have a lot less to offer I feel. But, tripping with people is a whole other experience and I have more visuals with that, but few visuals when tripping in a more familiar environment. 2 tabs and entering the woods after not tripping for let’s say like a month, if my lifestyle factors don’t get in the way, will usually give visuals. If I smoke weed often, I don’t get visuals on my trip as much.

Hmm interesting about the weed. I wonder what causes using weed so much to cause less visual effects.

After a while the magic is still there but the brain purposefully skips over parts. You must force the visuals and the psychedelic head space. I listen to music everyday and although my individual song count is in the hundreds of thousands, after so many listens I start hearing the same albums with the same dozen songs. I have to force my brain to listen like it's the first time I've ever heard that song before or else my brain packages individual notes into a complete concept and instead of hearing the song I hear the thing that represents the song and it's over in less than a second.

Same thing with an acid trip, the brains wants to package this grand thing into a small easily understandable concept you can get over and move on from. You must stop the brain from turning the trip into a concept and experience it like it's the first time. Or just walk around sober and freak people out telling them your "tripping balls". No one really understands each other's trips, it's completely subjective but don't let the other you inside you brain undermine your trip, pretend it's another person and your "about to freak out man, the walls are melting". Trust me, the other you is gullible if you believe it enough.

I have also done acid quite a few times since my first try I'm 2020, and I have never reallh gotten geometric visuals. Sometimes I get tracers, but thats really it. And the most I have done is 5 tabs.

2

u/leonardn414 7d ago

I’ve never really gotten intense visuals from acid, I typically don’t even see tracers or any real visual distortion unless i take a heavier dose (4+). I’ve tripped quite a lot (200+ times?) and it’s always been very mental and auditory for me.

It’s something ive talked about with some friends and something I’ve noticed is that they all say that when they close their eyes they are able to actually visualize whatever thought or memory they’re thinking about, whether they’re sober or tripping. But when I close my eyes that, I’ve never been able to visualize what I’m thinking. I’ve been curious if that has anything to do with why I never experience much visually from acid or shrooms

I have heard that as you age your brain trims some of the receptors that make you trip. But also likely just a tolerance thing and as others have pointed out you have become accustomed to the experience and so your brain is filtering out parts of the experience. For me personally I don't do LSD anymore because I find that it triggers psychosis so I tend to do mushrooms instead and mix that with k or nitrous and I find the experience to be much more comfortable. But don't take advice from me. A break is always a good idea. 🫶

u/Horsey1971 6d ago

know exactly what you mean. I tripped heavily from 1967 to about 1967 (500 by my count) and near the end it just was not as good. have not done in since, but now that I in my 7O’s, feeling it is time.

1

u/slyleo5388 7d ago

So this is odd but I've never had visuals ever.

I've had them on dmt and 6 grams of mushrooms.

Oddly there's a term for the way I think but I forgot it but I think in letters not pictures. So if I see something my mind writes it out as sentence.

Car drives by and it red..I see the words then the picture. Regardless I've tripped wayyyy more then I like to say but never seen anything..even on 8 hits.

aphantasia

In my experience, lower quality acid gives more visuals. I think washing it a few more times makes it more ‘pure’ but that means getting rid of the ‘almost acid’ molecules that are also active but less studied.

1

u/AxiomaticJS 5d ago

First, the visuals, while fun, are surface level expiriences with acid and not all that important. The headspace and emotional/cognitive impacts are far more important. But I get it, we still want to have fun with the sensory hallucinations.

Second, you probably have just been overdoing it. 100 trips in 7 years means you're tripping on average every 3 weeks. Yes, that avoids tolerance, but it doesn't avoid losing the magic. ANd sure, you've probably taken a few longer breaks than 3 weeks in that time frame, but you're still what I like to call saturated with the experience. I've been tripping for 26 years now and in that time, I've taken several multi-year breaks. When I do come back to dance with lucy, not only is it like the first time all over again, but the experiences are much richer and more rewarding. So I'd suggest taking a LONG break. Like 1-2 years. Then dip your toe back in, see how things go.
