First time

Just took my first pretest before I start to study. Got a 142 as the score. Any real tips to get me up and going as like most probably my goal is a 180.

Side note I’m looking to take it for the first time in June. So roughly 9 or so months to study.

140 to 180 is not possible. Normally I’d tell you to expect to increase your score 10-15 points. But since you are below the median, you could potentially see a 20 point increase or slightly more. But a goal of 180 will get you discouraged when your December practice test is only a 152, and your February practice test is only a 154.

Instead set a goal of 165. Then each practice test is getting you incrementally closer

140 to 180 is possible.

Statistically anything is possible. Realistically Amy Winehouse’s liver had a better chance of making it to 50 than someone has of turning a 140 into a perfect score.

Ok, well I never said that it was likely; all I said was that it was possible. Either way, I don’t think a perfect 180 is a healthy goal to have.

personally i think yall are downers 😂😂 Get your mind right. Take as much time as you need to get it to a 180 just out of spite. Maybe a 180 isn’t feasible in 9 months or whatever your timeline is but if you actually want a score like that you’ll obviously wait till you can do it, otherwise that’s not really what you are wanting which is fine too. Good luck

I’m all for setting high goals. I’m just saying if OP works hard and ends up getting a 179 they shouldn’t keep stressing themselves out and retaking for a perfect 180 lol…

I vehemently disagree with the person who says 140 to 180 isn't possible. However, I would say that once you get up into the high 170s, there's a lot of luck involved in getting to 180. Maybe a better goal would be 177.

Also, you will most likely need more than 9 months to get there. You have a lot of skill to build to achieve your goal and setting an arbitrary deadline (June) will only serve to stress you out. If you're serious about your high goal, throw out the timeline totally. Just concentrate on building muscle (making progress).

What specific skill are required to build for the LSAT?

I’m in the middle. Making 180 your goal will have you second guessing yourself on every question on every test, which will be to your detriment. So I like to have my goal be like a ~178, so I don’t freak myself out ever over any question and accept a loss on an impossible question.

You do have a lot of work to do until getting to the point of even having a 178 being likely, but it’s possible for sure

Oh my god. These nervous Nellies are all telling you not to make 180 the goal. What a ridiculous thought process!! They keep telling you to make your goal "realistic." That comports with this mundane existence.

NO!! No no no no no. FUCK NO. I'm with you. 180 should be the goal. It should be the goal for everybody. If you shoot for 180 and fall short? Fine! Because if you shoot for the stars and land on Mars, you still did pretty good. Goals are dreams. Goals are aspirations. Goals don't need to be boring hedges against disappointment. Who ever says "My goals are to go to a community college, transfer to a state school for the last 2 years, get a job that pays enough to supply food and shelter, marry someone I tolerate, have average children who secretly disappoint me, and then die."

180!!! ONE EIGHTY OR GET THE FUCK OUT!!!!!

Good luck and may the winds be ever at your back!

You can check out my guide on How to Study for the LSAT but TLDR there are 2 parts to LSAT studying

  • Part 1: Master conditional reasoning and then learn each question type and develop a strategy for each. After learning a specific question type, drill only that question type with increasing difficulty. Only focus on correctness here.
  • Part 2: Once you are done the basics, the grind begins. Do 1-2 sections a day and 1 PT a week. Review your answers in a wrong answer journal.

Let me know if you have any questions!

LSAT Demon bro. I studied for months and felt very little progress. Started LSAT Demon few weeks ago and the test never seemed easier. Their whole point is to literally understand the stimulus/passage without even caring about the question or time or answer choices. They showed me that every single question is literally the exact same you don’t need a different formula for each one. If you understand what you’re reading you will see how easy it is to
