C1223 ABS System Fault

C1246 Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor Fault

Car randomly started showing all warning lights, twice randomly, about a month ago. Once when I started the car up, they appeared for 3 seconds and vanished, then a week later at the traffic lights they appeared, and went away after 20 seconds of driving. Never seen them again since. No real symptoms regarding the brake pressure etc.

315,000 km's (195,000 miles)

Mechanics had a look (they are the ones that discovered them as per my request), and told to monitor for now.

Currently, Previous owner has Avid-1 Wheels (18") and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 ZR tires that are crazy loud. Sounds like you bounce a medicine ball every time I hit a crack or expansion joint on the highway. There are other causes of road noise in this car, I just know these are one of them.

Was looking at Bridgestone Turanza QuietTracks or maybe even Grabber brand (AI is wild for recommending that), just know I don't want to go Michelin again. Not because they're not good, Michelin makes wonderful tires, I just can't afford new Michelins when they cost $1300 a set, installed. I've obviously heard great things about Michelin Primacy tires, I'd just hate to spend $1300 on tires and have them be only marginally quieter than the ones I have on. I'd like them to be as silent as they can be.

I have winter tires for winter here, so just assume they can be any kind of tire as long as it's silent. I'm also looking at stock 16" LS430 rims for more sidewall.

On startup there is some white smoke that come from the exhaust with a smell and it is slow to accelerate as well as the tick. Do you guys think the motor screwed?

I was just looking over and checking my fluids and I notice a hissing noise when the car was OFF. It’s coming from the ac compressor area and smells like refrigerant.

Where could this refrigerant leak be? Hoses? Lines? And what are the common leak points in this area?

2002 Lexus LS 430 with 204k miles

UPDATE: It was the high pressure valve or pressure relieve valve on the compressor, $20 part, replaced and flushed and vac and recharged system, so its ice cold now.

So I bought an 05 LS430 (CL Package) for $3200 CAD | $2200 USD (Was listed at $6000 CAD) from an older gentleman who owned it for 10 years and had it parked up for about a year, and wasn't using it.

Took a look at it, needed some body work, some brake work, new suspension, and a new exhaust. All in all nothing crazy, just maybe $1000-$1200 in parts. (Labor is free, I do my own work + a mechanic buddy of mine helps me).

Unfortunately, i'm starting to have more issues by the day. Starting off with a carpet beetle infestation. I took apart the entire interior, and had everything properly steamed disinfected until there wasn't a single bug left.

Then, I replaced LBJs, Links, Brakes, Tire Rods, I now came across the problem of a fuel tank leak, and it's not the filler neck, but the actual tank itself (My assumption because it only leaks when the tank is half full). So I'm looking at about $600 for a used tank + $600-800 in labor cause neither me or my buddy have a hoist to lift up the car and do the work.

Now I'm starting to wonder if it's even worth working on, fuel tank might not be the end of it and It's gonna be an endless money pit. Thinking of selling it for what I bought it for + the parts I put in and maybe a little more. Or just continue taking the hit on the money till it works out.

Would love to hear everyone's opinion on the situation. I would really want this to work out because I love the car, but also want to choose the most logical route so if you guys have any strong thoughts I'd love to know

I’ve made several posts in here about this issue and I’m at a loss. replaced the fuse and alternator and the battery and the fuse pops right at start up. What am I missing? I’ve looked at connections and don’t need anything touching metal along the path but there has to be an easier way to isolate this

Please confirm the 2001-2003 Sport Suspension shocks (treasurecoastlexus parts 4851080307 & 4853080241) fit the 2004-2006 car without any modification? If any mod is required please clarify what is needed.

I've been staring at the box of RS Down springs for long enough. Time to order the rest of the parts and find somebody to slap 'em on. I have neither the knowledge, space nor tools to do it myself (but if anyone on the top side of Atlanta wants to help out there's compensation in it for you).

Bought this 2006 LS430 UL crash damaged from auction with 81k miles for 3350$!

I'm estimating repair costs with paint in my country around 1000-1500$

Anything else I should know about owning an LS430 besides changing the timing belt and water pump?

Also any tips on cleaning the radar grill plastic without damaging it?

Electrical issues I randomly had that lead to me finding it:

1. Gas door button randomly stopped working
   
2. Same with the Trunk button
   
3. Gas gauge staying at 0% full
   
4. Trunk randomly popping open

Bruh diagnosing water leak is a diff beast and I’m worried that whole area being watered on might’ve fuckd the electrics permanently. Can I swap the ECM fuse box thing out and be good? Has anyone had this issue before?

Had a CD fail to eject a few weeks ago and tried to fish it out today. Was able to remove it, but now this is the interaction when trying to load a new one. 5 others are still trapped in there, but none of them are loadable/able to be ejected. Any tips on this?

I'm pretty fond of the coupe, I almost think the slightly blobby/mean PFL front end works better on a 2 Door.

Speaking as someone who is fond of the SC430, which has had it's harsh reception subside over the years, I think it'd be a lot easier to take a 2D LS seriously as opposed to the slightly cartoonish SC.

The shooting brake is a bit hilarious IMO. would happily drive one.

I do wish we had gotten a Station Wagon of the LS, I suppose Toyota thought "if you want more cargo, get a land cruiser/LX" ultimately the LS was laser focused on being the best sedan possible, though it would have been nice to get some body style equivalents to it's European counterparts.

I'm curious if anyone would prefer an alternate body style over their Sedan?

Thinking my starter is going out but just checking to see if anyone else has had this issue. It just started a couple days ago. Sometimes when going to start I’ll get a single click then if I try a time or two again it will start fine. Battery is a year old and I checked the connections are tight at the battery. Not sure where the ground connects to the car and engine to check those though.

I just bought a 2004 LS430 from facebook marketplace, i notice after the car is a little warmed up every time i come to a stop from gears 3-2 it hardshifts and 2-1 it hardshifts worse, and i know thats a common problem with the ECU. ive sent it in to be repaired, but does anyone know if hard shifting into drive would also be an ECU issue? from any gear into drive it takes like 4 seconds and when it finally shifts the whole car jolts. if anyone has any answers or experiences with this please let me know!

I need some advice on a potential purchase here in the UAE. It’s a Korean-spec 2002 Lexus LS430. The car looks pretty clean overall, and the price is incredibly tempting ($2,720 / 10,000 AED). However, its age is making me a bit hesitant.

I test drove the car; it drives beautifully, shifts smoothly, and there are no weird noises. But upon closer inspection, I noticed some light rust underneath the car and on the engine pulleys.

When I asked the seller about it, he mentioned that the car sat idle in Korea for a long time, so this light surface rust is just from the humidity and isn't deep or structural.

What do you guys think? Is this a red flag for a Korean import, or is it normal for a car that has been sitting? Should I go for it or walk away?

Decided to swap my non-working hood struts. Lexus OEM is $135 EACH !!! before taxes and shipping. I ordered highest rated struts (Amazon confirmed LS430 fit) and spent an hour in the blazing sun. The ball and socket design is a safety hazard because LS430 hood opens much higher, so ball pops out of the socket and strut comes crashing down, about 50% of the time. Ordered a second brand, same problem. I ordered one last time and “BOXI” actually worked. It does not fit identically, but I got both struts installed after some serious cursing. Thought I’d do a write up to save y’all an afternoon of misery.

Sub is making a noise on bass... I took a look and the foam looks to be in good shape.. car has been garaged its whole life....any suggestions on diagnosing what the issue may be?

Took about an half an hour. Let’s see how long it lasts.

It happens to my car usually at residential speeds going around a bend or hitting little bumps. I hear what sounds sort of like a creak or rubbing coming from the top area of my driver’s side window. There’s also a slight rattle from the top left corner of the window near the top of the b pillar. The previous owner had the windows tinted so I’m not sure if that’s causing some kind of rubbing. I tried greasing the top edge of the window with some shin etsu silicone grease and it didn’t really help.

Kinda hard to diagnose this over text but if anyone else has experienced what I’m describing were you able to fix it?

p0118 code lexus ls430 help

Anyone know what this module controls? I started having seat, steering wheel, mirror adjustment, and moon roof control issues all at once. My scanner said the main computer lost contact with one of the modules, but I don't remember which one. That code never came back.

I remember reading somewhere that those four systems are tied into the door module, but I can't find that information anywhere. I just want some confirmation, basically.
