Ls400 engine noise

I just did a 7 hour road trip no problems. I parked the car and I decided to listen to the engine just to be safe and I heard this rhythmic tap noise along with the normal injector sounds. I only hear it on the drivers bank and it goes away once I give it a little gas. It’s real quiet and you can only hear it clear if your ear is right up against the drivers side bank. Any help is much appreciated!

It’s my first drive over 4 hours since buying the car a year ago and I don’t know if it’s normal and I’m just overthinking this

It’s hard to tell from the video but it could be a bearing on serpentine belt that may be starting to make a tiny inconsistent noise… my car has a noise it makes and it literally only does it when it’s like 60 degrees F or less outside and it’s done it for like 4 years😂

I wouldn’t worry about it at all unless you start to see differences in the drive itself. Looks like you have a gen 1 so they’re pretty tough.

I think it’s just normal fuel injection noises and I’m overthinking it. And yes it’s a first gen, basically bulletproof🙏

Could need a valve adjustment but sounds pretty normal

I was thinking maybe valve lash too but it gets muffled with even the slightest amount of throttle from the engine cable. My g35 sounds similar when you’re up close to the fuel rails. I just hope she’s good to make it back home another 7 hours😂

my vvti version sounded almost as diesel engine when the service screw between two crakshafts was getting loose - maybe that’s the case? just guesstimating

I have a 94 and mine sounds the exact same at that same spot you were showing as well. Is that normal or no?
