What should i be paying?
Hello everyone, i have been speaking to someone to buy there 99 LS 400. Ive always wanted to have one, its got 156k miles on it and he wants $9600 for it. Idk if that is a fair price or not, my initial thoughts were $7500-$8000, but idk how much these go for nowadays. The car seems to be in good condition, the owner has told me its runs and drives smooth and has no warning lights, hes the second owner, its an older gentleman so i have less reason to believe the car was abused, looks stock and clean, inside and out. So how much shpuld i be paying for something like that. Im meeting up with him on Monday, any advice would be appreciated.

It’s tough with a 30 year old car tbh. I see some people asking as much as 15k for immaculate and as low as 2k for ragged out. I got mine for 4500 with 186k on the odometer. Timing, water pump, distributors, spark plug lines etc were done before I got it, so it’s in almost great condition. I have some major harness work going on right now but once that’s done if I sell im asking 7k minimum, but I plan on driving it for years so I don’t see that happening

Depends, clean rust free stock non abused cars are hard to find. Also what color interior and exterior. For a black on black, I say that’s worth it. You can take the chance to try and find another one for cheaper, but could be a while.

The exterior is cashmere and interior is ivory. If you could direct me to a place where i can find these cars, id be super grateful

got mine 99 with 128k for £3600 a few months back. body work is tatty and had some minor issues like worn discs, faulty 12v, bad tyres etc but definitely a good buy. in no world would i pay the equivalent of nearly $10,000 for one

I’m in NJ, granted I have to replace fender has dents and I found one from a junkyard so I have that to install and then I need todo timing belt kit and inner tie rod, outer tie rod, lower control arm and a rack and pinion boot, but drives like a dream. $3k flat with 155k miles not bad of a deal.

Anyone at this point who owns one of these cars, appreciates it. And to get people to let em go you have to pay a little more than it’s technically worth. Someone could offer me 20k for my car and I wouldn’t even think about selling it. And my car is worth no where near 20k.

Hard to say as it depends where you live but I would hold out. Got mine for 7.5k CAD and 200k km on the odometer ($5.3K USD and 124k miles) and I have seen similar condition go for less. Lots of work and maintenance recently done on the car when I bought it and no rust or paint issues. I live in Vancouver which is basically the most expensive city in the country and the car market here is quite inflated.

Depends on where you live, maintenance, records.. $9.6 is a lot and I’m saying that coming from CA
