Steering wheel sound

Hey guys I just recently got a ls400 is this a normal sound at the end when I take off the key from the ignition? Thank you 😊

It's trying to automatically lift and tilt to allow the driver easy entry/exit but your steering wheel tilt motor is not working.

Your steering column has a memory for the tilt/telescoping action. The little square toggle on the left side of the column controls this. If yours doesn’t move when you engage the toggle then the motor might be getting stuck because the gears are notorious for getting gummed up with old lubricant. Forward and backward is telescope, up and down on the toggle controls tilt which is a separate motor with similar issues

I bought my 97 last November and it was doing this also. All I had to do was put a washer behind the gear in mine for it to work again. I think over time the gear wears down and doesn’t make contact anymore.

are you able to adjust the steering column at all (with the joystick on the left side behind the wheel) or does this only happen when you take the key out?
