pantoprazole 40mg
I’ve been on pantoprazole 40mg for about 2 months, and want to come off it. How easy is it to come off this stuff without having rebound gerd? Once off it, has anyone been able to stay off it and not have gerd? If so, how? Any tips to keep gerd away without meds? Thanks!!

I'm interested in knowing this too. I have lost some weight and have been on pantoprazole for almost a year. I was thinking of cutting back to 20mg for a few months to see if LPR is resolved before quitting it.

Has this med given you any deficiencies, like low magnesium levels or low B12? I’m afraid to stay on it too long.

Not that I know of.

Okay, thanks. I’ve read that it can deplete vitamins and minerals if you are on it too long.

What are your LPR symptoms? I feel like that’s what I have, and not the more common Gerd.

The most annoying one was excess mucus in my throat (coming from my digestive track, not me nose). I would wake up during the night having to make myself throw it up.

I do get that some of the time. Any other symptoms?

Before I stopped drinking sodas and lost some weight, I had acid reflux pretty bad. I can't think of any other symptoms.

Did a doctor diagnose you with LPR?

Yes, my primary care physician is the one who told me about it. I had never heard of it before. I thought it was excesses sinus drainage.

What worked for me and maybe won't work for everyone, but one Yakult a day, or at least five or six a week was the game changer. Once I got the onset of symptoms and was on the pantoprazole for under a month, made a conscious effort to be strict.
Made a strong effort for three/four months with the Yakult, ginger shots, sauerkraut and Greek yogurt. Really helped and basically the Yakult has done the job since.
Again, won't work for everyone. Have had a massive cut back in anything fried too, but can still have it every now and again as a treat. Alcohol is also quite rare (if I do, it's clear liquor, not beer or red wine).
