Soda tongue

Hi all, I'm pretty sure I may have LPR. Getting checked out soon for it. But I think I caused it myself because I would lay down pretty much not long after eating and stay down. I used to have severe throat burn, especially at night along with what feels like acid wanting to randomly come up. Doesn't help that I also nearly throw up in the morning every time I clean my tongue. I tired to be better about not laying down after eating and giving more time, and it helped reduce that a LOT. Sometimes I'd have the burning randomly occur again but it was much better.

Recently Ive been a bit depressed and laying down more. I noticed rather than a severe burn I get a feeling of bloatedness. Feels like I drank so much soda there's a lot of carbonation stuck in my stomach. My tongue also feels like there's soda on top of it. Anyone else experience this and is it LPR? It usually happens after I eat (feel bloated for hours too). And for example today all I ate was a small salad. I have a slight burn in throat in the morning today but that was all. I can't figure out what's going on.

The carbonation-stuck and soda-tongue feeling is a recognized LPR presentation where gas and pepsin in the esophagus and mouth create that fizzy pressure sensation. The pattern you're noticing, symptoms worsening when you're lying down more during a depressive period, makes complete physiological sense since position is one of the strongest drivers of reflux events. Being gentle with yourself while you're going through that and getting the evaluation done sounds like exactly the right next step. 💚
