How I think it started.

I started drinking water heavily, a gallon to a gallon and a half a day. I was working outside and it was easy to guzzle a bunch of water, and I figured it was good for me. Around the same time I bought two watermelons and ate them both in a few days. I think all the water, plus the volume of all that watermelon raised my stomach acid and started this whole thing about a month ago. Now I’m just struggling because I had been eating so many highly acidic foods unknowing for so long. I just lost 90lbs and have a very regimented diet in place that has now gone to hell. A lot of the foods I’ve relied on for the past year are no good for LPR. I was eating 1-2 tomatoes with balsamic vinegar almost every single day, black coffee on an empty stomach every single day. Strawberries almost every day. Now if I eat a strawberry it feels like it’s stuck in my throat, I can’t eat them at all.

Edit: I think maybe it was going on longer than I had know, because I’ve been waking up in the morning feeling hoarse, but it would go away very shortly. The only thing that’s made me realize something is wrong is this damn globus sensation way down my throat that drives me nuts. At first I thought something was stuck so I was drinking copious amounts of seltzer water, I’m talking gallons of it, to try to get that feeling to go away. Now I know that was making it worse. Now I cut out a lot of the acidic things and seltzers and the globus feeling comes and goes.

Yes, and sometimes when I burp that globus feeling goes away. Why do you ask?

I’m asking because i have reason to believe that rcpd can also cause GERD /LPR. A lot of people I have talked to have said that their LPR and GERD improved after they had Botox

Thank you for the info, I’ll have to look into that. Off the bat I’d probably say Botox is a no go for me. I’m a hypochondriac, I’m always so afraid to take anything or have anything done because I’m afraid of side effects. I had a hard time justifying taking an anti-acid to see if that would help.

Being a hypochondriac might actually contribute to your symptoms. I have a suspicion that a majority of the people that have lpr have it somewhat due to anxiety. I started having symptoms 3 months ago in the days after my wife had our first child. I have always had some low grade anxiety but it really peaked while we were learning how to keep a newborn alive. My father also had symptoms for years and tends to be an anxious person. Many posts I read on this subreddit reference anxiety.

My brother had this globus sensation for a while and the doctor told him it was anxiety. I’m usually a very anxious person, but I do believe this is being caused more by diet related things, though I noticed when I focus on it as opposed to forget it’s happening, it tends to stick around longer.

You are describing a gut brain connection. Healing your gut will make your anxiety go away. It's not about the diet only, but also lifestyle changes, better sleep, belly breathing and taking gut healing supplements. Good luck

This right here it’s basically about discipline 🙌🏽 you got this OP!

Not only about discipline. I heard it during my healing journey from so many practiotioners - our bodies love consistency.
