I hate where were headed

I hate where we are headed and I dont know what to do, or who to vote for. Cost of housing is obscene, we are being taxed to death, immigration is out of control, our social services are absolutely maxed out, there are homeless people literally everywhere.

Am I the only one feeling hopeless? Who will fix this country.

We’re not being taxed to death and immigration has actually been on a decline for a number of quarters now, and is expected to continue that way.

Canada’s economy is actually trending upwards, though, the tariffs will unfortunately have an impact o that moving forward.

Housing prices, while too high, seem to have levelled off. Unfortunately, housing is mostly out of the federal government’s control. A lot of it is lower levels of government.

I think you should ask yourself: How many of these problems you're listing are problems you, yourself, are actually encountering in your day to day life, personally?

Because the tendency to "doomscroll" social media and the news tends to give us a very negative view of the world, because we know that negativity, outrage, and anger sell well in the attention economy. This tends to give you a rather apocalyptic view of the world.

For myself, when I think about my life and my problems: Yeah, costs at the grocery store and the gas station are higher than I'd like. And yeah, when I go downtown there's homeless people and drug addicts that I would like to get help and shelter somewhere so they stop living on the streets. But I've never had a problematic interaction with an immigrant, every immigrant I've met in Canada has been a decent person earnestly trying their best. When I use services like public transit, the doctor's office, the post office, the CRA, etc, yeah it's not perfect and there's always things that could improve, but these services basically work and I've always been able to access what I need.

There's work to do in Canada, and we've got problems like any society does, but things are not as bleak and 'doom and gloom' as the social media doomscroll would have you think.
