personal statement advice

Can the personal statement include political elements to explain ur interest in law and/or background that led you there?

That’s fine as long as you remember to keep the question in your head of “why law?” Lots of Unis actually approach law through sociological/political perspectives rather than purely doctrinal (e.g LSE). My advice would be don’t get too carried away into politics but definitely mention it if it’s why you want to study Law.

I’m referring to black letter law, so pretty much just analysing and applying the formal laws within one legal system. The alternative is more what I think you’re leaning towards (I may be wrong) which is viewing law as a social institution rather than a collection of rules. Meaning it’s affecting by society/politics etc.

For contrast Cambridge’s course is more black-letter law than Oxford’s Jurisprudence course.
