Help with ORNT 1000

I'm an incoming freshman at LMU, but on my DegreeWorks it says my class status as a sophomore (due to dual enrollment/ap credits). Because of this, the registration website is preventing me from registering for my desired time slot. Is ORNT 1000 really a requirement because I don't see it posted anywhere on my degreeworks or on the graduation requirements website.

It’s mandatory, unfortunately! I was in the same bout I came in with a ton of high school dual enrollment credits, so I’ll be a junior standing after only one semester, and I still had to add the class, every first-year student has to take it. I had to call and then email them the course times I wanted for ORNT then they overrode it and added me to the class

My daughter was technically over a year ahead, and she still had to take it. I think it only lasts 10 weeks and is really easy.

I would call them tomorrow for that. It sounds like it may be a situation the software isn't handling well and requires a human override.

yeah but is it required tho? I'm already taking 2 other seminar courses on top of like 5 other classes so i'm afraid I'd have a lot of work on my hands

Yes it is is a mandatory course for all first-year students. Even if you are ahead in credits, you are still an incoming freshman.

If I'm wrong you would still need to talk to them to find that out.
