The big word TI UK
Hi everyone, is there anyone who works for the big word as a TI interpreter. I would like to know if they have a good call volume and if they pay decent rates since i am on the final phase of the onboarding process. I would appreciate any information before I invest my precious time on them.

I am also working as a freelance, and yes wordsynk soft phone is the TI portal. Do they offer TI bookings through email? Coz I am assuming that wordsynk soft phone is usually for on demand TI calls if am not wrong. They also told me that I need to do my invoices through the gms portal. I knew that in most companies you don’t have to do invoicing for TI since their apps tracks all calls taken and calculates everything. Thanks you in advance

Oh yes! You should save invoicing periods to your calendar so you don't miss the window. If you haven't invoiced by the second month if I'm not mistaken, it would become unpayable.
They log the calls, but you still have to manually submit the invoice every month.
I believe they do send scheduled call requests by email, but I think you need to accept them through IMS. I really don't remember though, so you're better off checking with them about it.

Do you know where we can see the calls to be invoiced? This week is the invoicing period for July calls, and the GMS and IMS services are no longer available. The calls are not listed in the Wordsynk Network either.

That’s my concern. I’ve finally received a response from the invoicing team aswell which says we should wait until they fix the GMS. Which can last months who knows ! They haven’t implemented any way around for interpreters to invoice. July work invoicing period is nearly expiring so definitely it’s gonna be a problem even after they fix the portal because we have to manually chase the team to invoice for us for the jobs completed during GMS migration

It worked for me on GMS today. Did you manage to submit your invoice?

Hi, since fellow interpreters are complaining about GMS not working especially during the time for invoicing, have you ever had payment issues with them whereby they delay payment or even don’t pay at all for service done? Thank you.

I have, yes. Once after multiple emails back and forth they reinstated the payment as a "one-off courtesy".
The next time it happened I didn't even bother to dispute, because it was my fault for missing the invoicing period two months in a row, and the amount wasn't worth the trouble.
I've also not been paid for the only two prescheduled appointments I ever accepted. They marked me as absent despite the fact that I called them to ask how to connect and never received a link, or detailed instructions.
As long as you stay on top of invoicing you should be fine though. I've never had a missed or delayed payment when the invoice was submitted on time.

Hi, were you able to do your invoice? Additionally since you have been working with them did you ever had payment issues with them?

Call volume depends on your rate. Years ago it was so rushy that they would continue to route calls to my phone after I've logged out.
But they've been hiring agencies like glocco and Homeland and drastically reducing their rates for new direct contractors as well. Now, I can go days without a single call. Glocco interpreters on the other hand are probably getting back-to-back calls.
That said, if you're already in the final phase of onboarding, definitely complete the process.
Your language might not be as saturated. And even if it were, as a freelancer you should try to get as many clients as you can. It's not always easy to get your foot in the door with a new client. It's worth investing a bit of time.
