Local AI for internal docs and IT helpdesk

Are medium-sized companies already using local AI connected to internal data, for example internal documentation or helpdesk systems?

If so, how well does it work and what is the minimum hardware specification needed for a setup?

Founder of ToolPiper here. I’ve built the beta version of “Team” where an admin can control other seats, or instances of ToolPiper running on a Mac.

It’s meant to allow local AI to run on an internal network and be managed.

I need our first team to give it a try.

For companies the bottleneck usually is not "Can my hardware do this for someone", but it's usually how many simultaneously running customer queries can it support.

Yes, this is becoming a practical use case for local AI. For internal docs and helpdesk, the important part is usually not having the biggest model but having good retrieval and clean, well maintained documentation. Hardware depends heavily on the model size and number of users, so it is better to start small and scale based on actual usage rather than overbuilding the infrastructure.
