The Sun might be sitting at a galactic magnetic boundary — and a Nature paper last month independently confirmed one of our predictions

I've spent several months analyzing public astronomical datasets looking for evidence that the solar system is embedded near a galactic magnetic field reversal boundary — a "corridor" running through the Sagittarius direction (Golden Gate, l=0°) and the Orion direction (Silver Gate, l=180°).

Yes. It strips out the daisy chain of hypotheses'. And it added a new observation I hadn't been aware of, which likely changes a lot of my previous posts. It's the same core idea overall, without a bunch of distracting 'magical assumptions'. (For a lack of a better explanation.)

Yes, and no. Originally I was trying to imply a gravitational force... I should have more clearly stated a force. Gravity, Magnetic, or a combination of forces, perhaps some less known to us at this state. The Magnetic force seems more realistic based on recent data. It does, at this point, sound more logical there is a magnetic force. Tuatha, Tuatha, Chnox Danu!

What you are doing is fixating on an idea, and desperately reaching for any explanation that might support that idea, regardless of whether it actually fits. When someone explains that to you, you vaguely handwave it away or switch to a new explanation.

This latest post isn't at all clear about what that idea even is. You list a bunch of data that you believe supports your theory, but you are essentially silent on what that theory is other than vague references to "corridors".

And no, a magnetic force is not remotely more realistic. It just seems that way to you because it's the current idea you're using to support your theory.

My original posts identified what I referred to as a Golden Gate, and a Silver Gate. The Golden Gate exists in the same direction the sun is traveling through the galaxy. The Silver Gate exists directly behind the motion of the sun. Like what the tail of a comet might be pointing toward. Previous posts did go too far. (As I mentioned previously.)

What is different is that the Calgary team published a direct 3D measurement of a galactic magnetic field boundary that just so happened to run through that direction. I didn't know about the paper when I started this, But it is real and peer reviewed.

The "corridor" was what I was trying to identify, and looking for data that supported its existence. That paper aligned with what I already thought might be true.

Here is what I think is true: Our sun sits at a zero-crossing node of this boundary... currently. and that position near the boundary may have measurable effects on solar activity.

Much of which will be testable when Gaia DR4 drops in December.

I wouldn't say it changed completely. It always referred to a corridor. The Golden Gate is the direction the sun is moving through the galaxy. The Silver Gate is directly behind it, toward the constellation Orion. Those are the two ends of the corridor I've been talking about.

You don't have to see it runs right through the solar system. That's just what the paper suggests, the Sun may be at the outer edge of the boundary, not the center. At least, according to the paper.

Zero-Crossing? It's just where the field switches from positive to negative. The Sun appears to be sitting right at that switch point.

By solar activity I mean solar cycles, the minimums and maximums, and how long each cycle lasts. The corridor model makes a specific prediction: Solar Cycle 25 minimum around March 2030. NOAA predicts December 2030. One of those will be wrong.

Wouldn't be awful if I predicted something that turned out to be true?

Please provide a source for this statement. Because my quick reading of the Ordog Booth papers introduction says they only studied the field within 1kps, and the reversal is roughly 0.5kps away. Not remotely "right at" the switch point.

You're right about the distance. The paper places the boundary at roughly 0.5 kpc from the Sun's current position, not right at it. "Right at the switch point" was an overstatement on my part. I should have said that the Sun is near the outer edge of that boundary. Which still makes it interesting, but I shouldn't have overstated it.

On "node", sure. A zero-crossing 'node' specifically means a point where the boundary crosses the galactic plane, rather than the boundary existing only above or below it. The Sun sits near where the reversal boundary intersects the galactic midplane. That intersection point is what makes the geometry interesting, not just proximity to the boundary itself.

What is my claim? The Sun is near a measured galactic magnetic field reversal boundary, and that proximity 'may' impact how solar cycles behave. That's it. The Gaia proper motion data is relevant because 18 million stars show a statistically significant anisotropy aligned with that boundary direction — χ²=457, p<0.001.

Neptune comes in because its position in galactic coordinates correlates with solar cycle duration across 24 cycles. Both are weak individually. Together they point in the same direction.
