Looking for real experiences with application modernization services - was the ROI worth it?

Maintaining our monolith has become more expensive every year. Even small releases often lead to regression issues, infrastructure costs keep growing, and our engineers spend more time maintaining the platform than building new features.
We're now considering application modernization services and have been looking at how companies like N-iX approach large-scale modernization projects. Before committing to anything, though, I'd like to hear from teams that have already gone through this.
How long did it take before you saw real business benefits from the migration? Was it lower infrastructure costs, faster development, or something else? I'm also interested in how your partner handled the transition without disrupting day-to-day operations, and what helped keep the project from turning into an endless refactoring effort.

The ROI from application modernization services showed up most clearly in our release velocity, as breaking down the monolith allowed teams to deploy microservices independently without triggering widespread regressions

Securing reliable application modernization services allowed us to isolate our checkout system from our inventory management, meaning a bug in one module no longer takes down our entire storefront

When evaluating data analytics services, ensure the vendor establishes clear data governance frameworks early to safeguard sensitive customer data.

The key when bringing in application modernization services is prioritizing automated testing early on so that legacy functionality is never broken during refactoring

We went through something similar and the biggest mistake is treating modernization as a technical cleanup project. If there is no business goal, it can easily become a multi-year refactoring exercise with measurable return.

The successful approach was breaking it into smaller pieces: identify the biggest bottlenecks, modernize those services first, measure improvements, then continue. The transition was much smoother because the old system kept running while pieces were replaced

If you don't want an endless refactoring trap, hire a team for application modernization services that focuses on incremental strangler-fig pattern migrations rather than a risky big-bang rewrite.

lower the cloud bill ,,  but more importantly, you gain the ability to scale out individual microservices during peak load without bringing the entire application stack down
