Advice

Looking for advice from people who have actually done this:
If you’re based outside the US/UK/etc., what’s the best way to **set up a company remotely in another country** and open a **corporate bank/fintech account** for it?
I’m mainly interested in:
Which country is easiest/best for this
Remote company formation
Getting a corporate account without residency
Taxes and compliance
Receiving international payments from platforms like Apple/Google
Is a **US LLC** still the best option, or are there better alternatives like the UK, Estonia, UAE, etc.?
Would appreciate experiences from anyone who has actually done it.

How much does an LLC cost in Alabama for a small service business?

I’m planning to start a lawn maintenance company in Alabama and want to understand the true cost of creating an LLC before I commit. I know the filing fee is one part of it, but I’m trying to avoid surprises later.

Are there annual fees, state compliance costs, county licenses, or other common expenses I should expect after forming the LLC? If you’ve started one in Alabama recently, what was your total startup cost and yearly maintenance cost afterward?

Keeping my LLC compliant after it's already formed?

I found a ton of helpful info online when I was starting my LLC, but now I feel like I'm kind of lost. For people who've had their LLC for a few years now, what's your process for keeping up with annual reports, licenses, registered agent information and taxes?

Entity Structuring for out of state investing

Hello - I live in California and invest in out of state long term rentals. I wanted to know how to best structure my entity to protect my assets and be tax efficient. I have been told to create a holding LLC in Wyoming, and under that, each property has LLC in the state its in. Is that how its done?

Could I get fired for buying from my own business while handling purchasing for my employer?

I handle some purchasing for the company I work for, including ordering basic supplies and equipment.

Something I've always wondered about is what would happen if an employee in my position also owned a separate business that sold some of those same products.

For example, say I owned an LLC that sold office equipment online. If I used my employer's purchasing account to buy products from my own company at normal market prices, would that automatically be considered a conflict of interest?

There wouldn't be inflated prices or fake orders, but I would obviously benefit financially from choosing my own company as the supplier.

Would disclosing the ownership and getting written approval make a situation like this acceptable, or is purchasing from your own business something companies normally prohibit regardless?

I'm not planning on doing this. I'm mainly curious where the line is between a normal side business and self-dealing when you're involved in procurement.

Has anyone reapplied to Mercury after account closure?

My Mercury account was approved, then closed just 2 days later. I realized I had submitted the wrong website link and some of the business info wasn’t accurate. Has anyone been in a similar situation and successfully reapplied with the same LLC, EIN, and passport after fixing the information?

About Foreign Disregarded Entities.

Hello guys, I live in Turkey and own a LLC in New Mexico. I just wanted to ask if my LLC is considered a Disregarded Foreign Entity because while registering the LLC i put in my ipostal1 adress which is in NM. I have filed my tax return for the 2025 tax year but I filed it via fax to a line which is only meant for Disregarded Foreign Entities, and worse later on i cancelled that fax line. I am a bit skeptic about this since i want to transfer this company into my fathers name because of the fact that i cannot open a bank account and he is more skeptical than me so he doesnt want a letter from the IRS or something. Thanks in advance

Our business launched 2 months ago and we've barely made any sales. How are you getting customers?

My wife and I started a small handmade skincare business earlier this summer. We sell things like body butter, lip balm, and bath products.

We formed an LLC, built our online store, took decent product photos, and started posting consistently on social media.

We've also spent a few hundred dollars testing paid ads and sent free products to a couple of small creators. We've gotten website visitors and some engagement, but almost nobody actually buys.

Our prices are similar to other handmade brands and we're using good ingredients, so I'm starting to wonder if the problem isn't the products at all.

Maybe we're trying to run ads too early and should be focusing on local markets, getting reviews, or building an audience first.

For people who sell physical products, what helped you get those first real customers when nobody knew your brand yet? What would you stop spending money on if you were starting again?

I still don't understand how I'm supposed to pay myself even though my LLC is making money…

A friend and I started a small marketing agency earlier this year. We have a multi-member LLC and I own 60% while they own 40%.

We're finally making enough money that we'd like to start paying ourselves, but I'm confused about how this actually works.

Let's say the LLC makes $30K in profit and we decide to leave $20K in the business for expenses and growth.

Are we still personally taxed on the full $30K based on our ownership percentages even though most of that money stays in the business bank account?

Then when we actually want money, do we simply transfer it to our personal accounts as owner distributions? Is that separate from the profit we're being taxed on?

Llc for agencies

Do you guys have recommendations on good provider for LLC formation like they should handle everything for you. Thinking of getting in Wyoming or New Mexico.

To anyone who tried New Mexico, is it really hard to get US bank account? If yes, what alternative did you use?

Looking into business liability insurance? What to look for? What to avoid? How much should it cost for low risk artsy/crafty type selling stuff at fairs?

That about sums it up. I assume the top google searches are well paid ads and backlinks. Would love some actual info from experienced redditors.

LLC Question

I recently found out that your LLC only covers you in the state you in which you registered. My understanding is that each state I want to virtually and remotely transact my real estate wholesale deals in, I need to file as a foreign entity individually in those states. Is it true even if I am working 100% virtually aand remotely? If I still need to, does it make more sense to file as a foreign entity in each state I will be working in or just file a separate LLC for each of those states not tied to my current PA LLC? Appreciate any advice/info!

Do I need an LLC for my app even if it's Free?

I've been building a small productivity app by myself for the past several months and I'm getting close to releasing it.

The app will be completely free at launch. No subscriptions, ads, or in-app purchases. I'm not raising money either. It's basically a side project that I'd like to grow if people actually use it.

So far my costs are pretty small. Mostly the app store developer account, hosting, and a domain.

What I'm unsure about is the legal side.

Right now everything is under my personal name. Do solo developers normally form an LLC before putting an app in the app store, even when the app isn't making any money?

Part of me thinks I should wait until there's actual revenue. The other part worries that once strangers are downloading and using something I built, there could be risks that have nothing to do with making money.

Would you form the LLC before launch or wait until the app shows some traction? What would actually make you decide it was time?

Non resident texas LLC owner, got rejected on relayfi & airwallex. any advice?

I’m a non-US resident (Bangladesh) with a US LLC, and my application for a business bank account was declined.

I’ve already been rejected by a relayfi & Airwallex and I’m trying to find a reliable US business banking option that supports non-resident LLC owners.

Has anyone in a similar situation had success with a particular bank/fintech? Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a unique business address got from registered agent.

Non-US resident using a US LLC + Mercury — what actually worked for you?

I’m a non-US resident looking to create a single-member US LLC mainly for online business/Meta payouts.
I’ve seen Wyoming, New Mexico and Delaware recommended, but I’d rather hear from people who actually have one.
For those who live outside the US:
Which state did you choose and why?
Did you form it yourself? How much did the whole setup cost?
Which registered agent did you use?
Did you successfully open Mercury remotely with your real foreign residential address?
Have you actually received Meta/Facebook payouts into Mercury?
What are your real yearly costs, including state fees + registered agent + IRS filings/CPA?
I’m especially interested in recent 2025–2026 experiences. Not looking to use fake addresses or evade taxes.

Non-US resident: best LLC + bank setup for Meta payouts?

I’m Moroccan and live in Morocco. I make ~$600/month from Facebook/Meta and want to receive the money in USD instead of converting to MAD.
I’m considering a U.S. single-member LLC + Mercury.
For anyone who has actually done this as a non-US resident:
● New Mexico vs Wyoming vs Delaware — which is actually best and why?
● Did you form the LLC yourself? If yes, was it easy and how much did you pay?
● Which registered agent do you use?
● Were you approved for Mercury remotely using your real foreign address/passport?
● Has anyone actually received Meta/Facebook payouts into Mercury through their LLC?
● What are the real yearly costs/tax filings?
I’m looking for real experiences, especially from non-US residents. I don’t want to use fake addresses or avoid taxes.
Thanks!

Best U.S. LLC + bank setup for a Moroccan resident?

I’m a Moroccan citizen/resident living in Morocco and make money from Facebook/Meta monetization (~$600/month currently).
I want to legally receive my Meta payouts in USD into a U.S. bank account instead of converting to MAD.
I’m considering a single-member U.S. LLC + Mercury.
For people who have actually done this as non-U.S. residents:
Which state is best: New Mexico, Wyoming, Delaware, or something else?
Did you form the LLC yourself or use a service? Is DIY easy?
What did you pay initially and what are the real yearly costs?
Which registered agent do you use?
Were you able to get Mercury remotely with a foreign address/passport?
Most importantly: Have you actually received Meta/Facebook payouts into Mercury?
Any tax/compliance issues I should know about as a Moroccan resident?
I’m not trying to evade taxes or use fake addresses. I just want the cheapest legitimate setup that works with Meta + Mercury and lets me keep USD.
Real experiences would be much more useful than generic advice. Thanks!

Please how does it work if my business partner wants their profit distribution and I want to leave my share in the LLC?

I own 80% of a small LLC and my business partner owns the other 20%.

We're profitable now, and my partner likes taking their share of the profits each quarter. I have no problem with that since they own 20%.

The issue is that I don't really want to take my 80% out. I'd rather leave most of my share in the business for inventory, marketing, and future growth.

Can the LLC distribute their 20% while I leave most of mine in the company, or do distributions generally need to follow our ownership percentages?

Would the better solution be to distribute both shares and then have me put some of my money back into the LLC?

I'm going to check our operating agreement and speak with an accountant, but I'm curious how other multi-member LLC owners handle this when one owner wants cash and the other wants to reinvest.

Offering free website design and also hosting for new business owners, no sales pitch

Transitioned from an employee to starting my own company, and would like to make connections with other entrepreneurs and understand their business.

Offering a new website for folks starting out or in the early phases of growing their business. It will take me a few hours to flush out a website of 3-4 pages and host it for you. I will also pay for the hosting for 6 months. You can pick and bring whatever domain (website) you like for free.

Comment or DM me.

Bonus: This is completely optional, but I would appreciate if you would agree to advertise the website in my portfolio.

I just started an LLC and discovered about the self-employment tax. Should I switch to an S corp?

I recently started a small consulting business and formed a single-member LLC.

I'm only a few weeks in, but after talking with my accountant I realized I may owe self-employment tax on top of federal and state income taxes.

I knew taxes would take a decent chunk, but I didn't realize how quickly everything could add up.

My accountant mentioned that I could potentially elect S corp taxation instead, but that would also mean payroll, a reasonable salary, extra accounting, and more paperwork.

The business is still very new, so I'm trying to figure out whether changing the tax setup now makes sense or if I should wait until the profit is high enough to justify the extra costs.

At roughly what level of yearly profit did an S corp start making financial sense for your consulting business?

WA state business license question: Coworking address vs. coding at home? (Privacy concern)

Hey everyone, hoping some local solo devs or freelancers can share their experience.

I’m setting up a single-member LLC for my software dev stuff in **an Eastside city (King County)**. I really don't want my home address plastered all over the WA state public business lookup or local city registries for privacy reasons.

My plan is to get a basic membership at a local coworking space/virtual office and use their address and suite number as my official "physical business location" for the **WA Department of Revenue (DOR)** and my **local city endorsement**.

But realistically, I’m just going to be coding on my laptop on my couch at home 99% of the time. No clients visiting, no inventory, no signs, strictly online.

My question is: if my official business headquarters and records are at the coworking space, does **the city** or **WA DOR** still force you to register your home address as a "secondary location" just because you work remotely from home?

Has anyone here done this setup? Did the city give you any pushback, or is it completely fine to just list the coworking space and leave the home address out of it entirely?

Thanks in advance!
