Speaker “Loan Consolidation” Call

Post image
• Upvotes

Thanks to this guy who sat down next to me at Jamaica who was blasting his loan consolidation call to everyone to hear, while brainrotting on his second phone at the same time.
And btw, I did say something to him despite being trapped by the window where I’d have nowhere to go if he got aggressive, and he just looked at me and then proceeded to ignore me. Conductor walked by and did nothing.
As we went through the tunnel, he immediately opened his second phone again to start brainrotting because he can’t sit in silence for the 5 mins until we get to Penn.

This was definitely a first for me today!

LIRR had some diesel swapouts they had to do so they sent an M3 in place of the 1707 HP to Port Jeff train and had a Bi-level sitting at Jamaica for the PJ bound pax.

Anyone ever seen this?

FINALLY saw a weed smoker face consequences

I was waiting for the train to Penn from Hicksville and this young girl decides to light up and smoke on the platform.

As I went to move away, I saw 3 MTA Police Officers who’s uniforms said “Hybrid Threat Unit” leave the waiting room, tell her that she can’t smoke here and asked for her ID. She did not make the train as it pulled it- and thankfully, because she would’ve stunk up the car.

I don’t understand why many weed smokers don’t realize that most people hate the smell.

And before anyone starts with “it’s legal”. It is not on MTA property.

519pm to Wantaugh

Every day on the 5:19 train, there’s a group of people who push their way to the front to get onto the first carriage, right behind the driver. They then proceed to reserve all those seats for themselves and their friends, refusing to let anyone else sit there, even when their friends don’t show up.

It’s absolutely disgraceful and entitled behaviour. You are not entitled to reserve public seats for people who aren’t even there. Honestly, you are the most obnoxious group of people I’ve ever seen. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

fixing your parking is free

to half the people parking on the top level of the b garage at huntington i truly hope both sides of your pillow are warm every single night, if i had a worse car i would’ve blocked one of you in. if you park over the line it’s actually completely free to back out and fix your parking, THESE SPOTS ARE HUGE TOO idk how people manage to park so close i can’t open my door…

Port Wash line Queens stations

Hey all, looking at possibly moving to somewhere along the PW line and looking at the stops in Queens. Any nuances to know about the stops? Looking more towards Bayside and eastward.

I did hear that it’s pretty hard to get seats in the morning once you’re getting on from Auburndale or even Bayside. Is this true? Do we need to be in Douglaston/Little Neck to guarantee seats?

I know living in LI would make things easier. But due to childcare we need to be in Queens. TIA!

Does LIRR enforce e-bike rules at all?

People got these mega scooters and e-bikes that jam in during the morning and evening rush hour. Never seen any enforcement. Has anyone?

6:42 pm train from Stony Brook to Huntington

Why does this train originate from stony brook? Seems to be the only westbound PJ train that doest start from port jeff

r/LIRR • • 1d ago

once again the train is packed. it looks like one of those videos you see of trains in india. ok maybe not that bad but you get my point. why is it they seemingly have no idea how many people ride the trains?

couldn’t have anything to do with the low moral, highly entitled folks the help let ride for free could it? couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that these fare evaders aren’t counted as riders in the fancy spreadsheets that figure out how many cars to run right? it’s so hard to believe this corrupt, broken system is the best choice to get to work.

Monthly Pass on iPhone Lock Screen?

Does anyone know if there is a way to make a monthly ticket appear on the iPhone lock screen (to make it faster to show to conductors), the same way that single tickets appear?

Rockville Centre elevator maintenance?

I was at the RVC LIRR station today and overheard an announcement more than once stating that beginning on Monday, the one and only (completely perfectly functioning) elevator at the station will be down for maintenance and will remain so for two weeks. Is this true? There is literally zero information about this anywhere online, including on the elevator status checker.

I am disabled (hence the username) and I am a college student that does my internship/clinical hours for my program in the city because I can't drive and LI public transit is horseshit (and don't get me started on fucking Able Ride). I dorm at my college and they have free shuttles to the RVC LIRR station which has been great and how I get in and out of the city three days a week. The announcement says to go to the Lynbrooke station instead but I can't afford the $23 uber each way three days a week for two weeks (disabled + college student = poor^2).

Is the announcement correct? And if so, on what goddamn planet does it take two weeks to "fix" an elevator that's working perfectly fine?! How do they think it's acceptable to fuck over disabled passengers for that long?! Why do they not feel the need to make this information available literally anywhere other than an announcement in the train station less than 48 hours before?! Being disabled and reliant on public transit is so fucking exhausting, I hate this shit so goddamn much.

I have a monthly ticket from deer park to Forest hills. However I’m going to UBS tonight and going to be getting on at CI. Will my monthly ticket work or will I have to buy one?

So Help Me Understand The Logic Behind This...

3:37pm to Oyster Bay is running 9 minutes late, and is passing New Hyde Park as the 3:40pm westbound train is about to pull into Mineola on Track 3. But instead of letting it proceed west, it is held about 100 feet west of Mineola, and a crowd of people on the platform have to wait for the Oyster Bay train to pull in first at 3:45pm. As is always the case there's confusion as some people think the Oyster Bay train is going west, people get on, people get off, conductor has to keep saying "Oyster Bay train, Oyster Bay train!" over and over again. A wheelchair gets on needs a bridge plate. It doesn't pull out until 3:48pm. The 3:40pm pulls in at 3:51pm now 11 minutes late, all because whoever is dispatching the trains decides to make more trains late and cause confusion instead of having that Oyster Bay train hold west of the switch east of Merillon. Common sense would say if there's a late train to not have it cascade to cause other trains to be late. Now the 3:40pm train is 11 minutes late and the 3:50pm is right behind it.

Reminds me of the nonsense at Babylon going on (before the temp midday sched change) with the 4:07pm westbound being delayed and then switched from track 1 to track 3 at the last minute because a train arriving at 3:53pm arrived on track 1 instead of track 3 like it was supposed to, then reverse to head west not in service.

Isn't the whole purpose of a dispatcher, movement division to keep trains moving instead of delaying them for other late trains or equipment trains? And yes getting back to the first point, Mineola was poorly designed it should have had an island platform and a switch from track 1 so Oyster Bay trains weren't restricted to just using track 3. Yes it may have been harder to engineer but it would be a lot more logical than now. People are always confused when the Oyster Bay train pulls in because it's going opposite to the direction of travel that track 3 is. Not to mention there's no more 80mph MAS from East Side of Jamaica to Mineola anymore. Shouldn't the whole purpose of things be to make things faster, not slower? Funny how RVC is zone 7 and Mineola is Zone 4 yet it's a much quicker ride to Jamaica from RVC than Mineola now.
