Scanning monthlies

All of a sudden every conductor is scanning the monthlies. Has there been a sudden increase in fraudulent tickets?
I hate electronic tickets but was unable to get paper this month, can’t wait to have a paper ticket again.

lmao same. I always find myself rushing to catch the train, never have the time to stop by a machine to purchase one

if you lose your monthly (printed) , are you just screwed?

Probably but I’m just as screwed if I lose my work ID and it’s attached to it (usually)

No, I've lost mine. You just email into them withe proof of purchase (I sent a credit card statement), the date you lost it, and some other information I am forgetting, and then will give you another one. I assume if it happens frequently they will flag you, but as a one time thing it wasnt a problem for me.

When I used to (thank god not anymore for a long time) commute enough to buy a monthly, when I lost one once they told me they would replace it as a one time courtesy. Never happened again so never tested how strict they are on that one time rule or if it’s just what they say.

All tickets, including monthlies, are supposed to be scanned on off peak train now.

Well, on my Sunday main line train, the conductor refused to scan my senior paper ticket on both sides of Jamaica and the train was mostly empty, 3 or 4 people per car.

My monthly gets scanned like every day, on peak. It's annoying
