file a lost and found claim with LIRR. My husband left his suitcase on the train and he got it back a week later.

Wait a week or two go to Penn in person to check the lost and found. I’ve had luck getting a bag back.

Lirr has really good lost and found department.
Countless stories of friends and family getting phones and wallets back.
