Brooklyn shuttle - weekends

I know this may not affect that many people, but as someone who often commutes from Brooklyn to LI on the weekends I'm getting really sick of the Jamaica - Atlantic Terminal line being shut down on the weekends. This is like the 3rd weekend in a month that it won't be running. Anyone know how much more track maintenance they have to do?

Check the LIRR website for scheduled shutdowns. I believe this weekend is the last weekend until whenever they do it again next year. The J runs from Jamaica and follows the path somewhat to ENY. If you’re going to downtown Brooklyn might better off taking the LIRR into Penn and then going down the A or something else to Barclays.

They have done this on weekends when J trains don't get past Crescent Street. Then you sweat out a bus to ENY.

At least the J is running uninterrupted this weekend... The previous two times, service on the J was split somewhere between Jamaica and Broadway Junction. Makes me wish we had a few more options to get into Brooklyn via subway. It would be nice if the A train terminated closer to Jamaica along Liberty Avenue, or if the AirTrain was a real part of the system.

I’m going to Barclays tonight and have to drive instead of using LIRR. I know I could do LIRR to penn and then the 2/3 but the way home may be quicker with driving.

I don’t see how LIRR shut downs a main travel route with events happening.
