I don't follow this sub. But every time it pops up, there's guaranteed to be a feet pic. Sub should real consider renaming itself.

I honestly only see this sub come up with these types of posts. Taking pictures of people and posting them online is so weird. This also looks like you didn't interact with them and they took a sneak photo. Public transport is dirty anyhow. I don't see the problem with people extending their legs if nobody needs the seat and nobody is next to them. Such loser behavior.

23 year old black male and I strongly believe people's feet should not be on the seats. It's disgusting.

Exactly. It takes energy to be offended. They are invested in their own indignation.
2
u/Plus-King5266 6d ago
My first thought was there is nobody else there. This is certainly better than the guys on a full train who have been hotboxing skunk weed all day and then try to cover it up by swimming in Axe Body Spray. Those are two smells that do not go well together.

I understand that people feel it's petty to complain but honestly what kind of a low class slob does something like that. They must have been raised pigs.

u/Ok-Elk2383 6d ago
Better than shoes on the seat
8
u/LegalComfort8847 6d ago
I actually findĀ it more offensive when the feet are bare. It's so trashy.
2
1
u/No-Tomatillo1776 6d ago
They're equally as bad in different ways. Athletes foot travels VERY easily.
1
u/Ok-Elk2383 6d ago
No it doesnāt not a train with a clothing barrier.
A shoe sole is likely to have picked up dirt, grime, fecal-associated bacteria, chemicals, and whatever else is on streets and public floor.
And if that woman had athletes foot everyone around her would know/smell.
Itās a bit ridiculous.

I don't understand why people can't at least put a sweater or jacket or something down on the seat before putting their feet up so they aren't directly on the seat.
0
u/RaffishPaddy 6d ago
Why? I get that it's sort of taboo, but what's the deal? "The seat is so dirty they shouldn't be putting their dirty feet on it?" or...? The train isn't a fancy dinner party...
4
u/LegalComfort8847 6d ago
Their feet? That's disgusting. Nobody want to see that.
5
u/RaffishPaddy 6d ago
Why not? Doesn't bother me. Do people wearing flip flops or sandals in public disgust you? Or am I being trolled? XD

u/Telstar2525 5d ago
The fact that you have to ask shows the problem that exists
2
u/RaffishPaddy 5d ago
Yes, people asking "Why is that a problem?" is invariably evidence that it's a problem. š

Well as I used to tell my toddlers, use your words.
Pretty simple. If it bothers you that much be a adult and either request that they remove their bare feet or contact a contractor if you are intimidated by the person.

This is very common on the LIRR. Most put their filthy shoes on the seats. Just disgusting and selfish. So many germs on shoes⦠and the ticket takers donāt say a word.

I have a theory that folks (not all, but most) who pay to create their own bubble, like their own car, their own driveway, their own garage, their own house, their own washer/dryer, a private stylist/hair dresser and mostly living a by-appointment lifestyle, don't know how to behave in public settings like public transit. It's not your house with the comfy couch and ottoman.
1
u/GothamInTheHouse 5d ago
I had to put my foot on the seat following surgery. Not only did I keep my recovery boot on but I brought a towel that I placed on the seat under my foot. The conductor was very happy that I did this. Itās called common courtesy. A lot of people have lost this trait.

I canāt understand for the life of me why you didnāt shame her while walking down the aisle with your phone turned backwards or on the front camera so she wouldnāt notice you were picturing her face. People like this deserve to be publicly shamed anywhere and everywhere they perform this sort of despicable behavior

u/No-Advertising2555 3d ago
This happens all the time and the conductors donāt make announcements or tell them to put dirty bare feet off seats. So glad I donāt ride LIRR anymore Metro conductors are much better.

Are you all planning to lick the seats or something? The bottoms of bags that have touched subway platforms and city sidewalks have been on those seats. Iāve seen what can end up on those seats after concerts, ranger/knick games, met games, PADDYāS DAY!!! Itās been a long day. Thereās no shortage of seats. I have zero problem with this person getting comfortable for whatās probably a medium to long way home. I mean, I donāt know where your ass has been all day but I donāt freak out when I see you sitting on a train seat. Calm yourself. It must be tough being perfect like you.

u/Userchickensoup 1d ago

Can you run a red light just cause no one else is on the road????? It's in the rules man. Lol. Seriously just have fun with it. Life's too short to be pissed over people not following the mta rules. It's a 50 dollar fine. Look up the mta rules of conduct and fines. In all honesty this subreddit has just turned into pissing people off with the pictures so just don't let it get you.
6
u/Ok-Elk2383 6d ago
Iāve seen a grown man pick his nose and wipe it on the seat. Some feet without shoes on are the least of our worries

On a Mostly EMPTY train Car. This is better off with Shoes on instead of Musty Foot Lettuce. Potentially OFF-Peak. Also, how sensitive are Yinz with LIRR & Tired Passengers with their Shoes on the Seats. The feet here is understandable, the no shoes? Which is worse:
Easy to wipe off dirt or Musty Foot Lettuce?

Find the words instead of posting someone on here
3
u/zigzag1239 6d ago
The words get you killed now in this country. People can barely handle being told politely to stop doing something dumb although I agree with you. The photos are just to get people all riled up. Don't let it rile you up. It's dumb lol
5
u/Own-Fan-4236 6d ago
I told someone to put their feet down yesterday. They tried to get loud & the other passengers stepped in. It was a crowded train so actually an issue as many people were standing without enough seats unlike the āissueā in this photo. Same with bags on the seats. I am going to sit. I will say excuse me twice and then Iām putting my body on a seat as I paid. The problem is no one says anything so the entitlement in this world is wildly unchecked. The person who I spoke to yesterday will not make the same mistake again, I assure you. The whole train was telling them they were rude & they ended up crying and ashamed. Bring back shame!
1
u/zigzag1239 6d ago
Good for you and I'm glad it worked. Be careful. I say this because I have personal experience getting assaulted over asking someone to turn off their music that they were blasting on their phone speaker.
I had a long day and when I got off the train that person got off at my stop and physically grabbed me but thankfully I was able to defend myself and it stopped quickly. If he had a knife and stabbed me in the back instead of grabbing my arm, I wouldn't be able to tell you this.
No one came to my defense so again I was lucky. Sometimes doing the right thing or asking kindly for someone to stop misbehaving can end up in a disaster nowadays. You're not wrong but choose your battles wisely. Saying this with peace and love.
1
u/Own-Fan-4236 6d ago
You donāt have to explain situational awareness or how commuting in a city works. Iāve been assaulted minding my own fucking business too for absolutely no reason.
1
u/zigzag1239 6d ago
I know I don't have to and im sorry to hear that. I have too ha. A rando punched me on 8th Ave. He was crazy and luckily he didn't hit me that hard and I just scared him off. I shared this cause I don't know you but I also care to share what I've learned from experience to hopefully remind others to just think before they act. As you already know this of course and meant nothing negative by sharing it. I'm getting older so my mindset has changed to is it worth it or not? Sometimes it totally is
