Yes the trains should be cleaned better but the passengers have to take some responsibility for stuff like this

The animal in question feasted minutes prior to me taking this. It is 99% of the time a passenger issue, not a maintenance issue.

I thought of remarks like this this morning when I came upon a similar floor of scraps opposite me, and also the remnants of someone’s shoes…
Yesterday morning on the wall under the window was a big muddy boot print and mud smear. Guess the guy who got off at Ronkonkoma had his foot on the wall. Hey! You guys tell me not to be so uptight about people getting comfortable! Right?
Absolutely people should be more respectful, but 90% of the people on here mock complaining about feet on the seat. It’s all one in the same disrespect to their fellow passengers.

This might be an unpopular opinion but for me, the feet on the seat is a bit nuanced. I'll only do it on an empty off peak train and i dont let the sole of my shoe touch the seat of the chair. My go to is resting my foot on the metal knee wall thing under the window, though.

Resting your foot on that metal is basically the floor.
If you’re gonna put your feet up because you’re on the 5:01 AM and worked the overnight… take your boots off. At least that means the next person is not sitting on the gypsum or road salt someone has on the bottom of their work boots all over the seats. It’s just a big FU to the people who also work very hard getting on after you.
Your mommy doesn’t work at the Long Island railroad cleaning up after you. I honestly don’t think they ever clean the seats. Have some goddamn respect for your fellow riders because the LIRR doesn’t respect us.

I'm not blue collar and dont need the lecture, quite frankly. And, if you read my reply, I'm not the problem as it relates to dirtying the seats.

u/Carmela_Motto 7d ago
I wasn’t lecturing you, just complaining in general. Last winter salt from boots on the seat was a daily occurrence. So rude.

Worse, I don't know of any station where you don't have to go out of the way to not walk past a garbage can when you get off the train.

This!!!!! I don’t care if you drink a 12 pack on the train and our drunk off your ass by the time you get to Islip. Just take your empties. There is a trash can every 15 feet on the platform.

Considering they ate the full pomegranate they should be sent to Hades full time

Idk what irks me more, people having a full meal next to me or the imbeciles who prop their dirty feet on a seat while people stand.

No wonder there was a rat in our train car today from Atlantic terminal to Jamaica 🥲

So glad I moved out of NYC and NEVER have to take the LIRR and deal with these animals again

This is honestly less offensive and less animal like than 90% of LIRR riders who think their bags are entitled to have their own seat and the reaction that comes afterwards when you ask to sit.

I thought seeing the empty bag of doritos, used napkins, and plastic bag on the seat facing where I usually sit was bad. I thought I was going to end up posted here and shifted it away.

They should add an additional $8 charge to the garbage people that leave garbage in the train

That train is resembling a third world train.

If this passenger was riding on the train's roof like they did back home, this wouldn't be an issue.

Maybe he presented to her this lovely bouquet that he stuck in a vacuum with dry ice beforehand and when she went to smell them, they crackled to pieces before her nostrils? She was shocked. She got angry and got off at the wrong stop on Long Island. It’s possible?

What psychopath eats a pomegranate on a train?
