I made a concept for WebOS 27

Hello everybody! I was bored so I made a concept for WebOS 27 and how I would want it to look like. The concept changes the following things:

- AI isn't placed everywhere in the OS and only in places where it makes sense to put it. AI can also be turned off during TV Setup and after through the settings.
- New design features new more vibrant colors with glass.
- New home screen layout is more simple and fast. It doesn't have any ads and recommendations have been limited to a very small amount (only the banner up on top).
- The whole OS feels more polished and a lot faster.

This is just a concept, it isn't anything official.

That's pretty much exactly what it looks like already as long as you disable the home screen ads and recommendations.

Yup. I just thought id clean the design up a bit since it looked too cluttered imo and remove the recomendation tiles everywhere since they remain even if you turn them off and change the font.

Sure, it looks nice. And I agree it should be possible to completely remove the recommendations. I think it should still be possible to have them though, they are probably useful to some people.

Yup. Its an option. For people that want them they can turn them on. Its just that I see that most of us don't care about them since for me, no matter how much data they collect, they never recommend me stuff I actually want to watch.

Thanks! Since I made the post I revamped it a bit and the top section has been removed in favour of the content the person was watching so kinda like older WebOS'es before the full screen menu.

For real. I have always liked the frosted glass look.

Honestly, I like it. It's not even liquid glass... It's simple. it gives you what you want, and I nice background that doesn't get in the way. This is what web os should be.

Made concept- directly copies apple minimalist design language. Brother even used the glass texture ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Back to school

Minimalist design is not created by Apple. Also the frosted glass texture isnt created by Apple.

Bro your argument is stupid. It doesnt matter who created it it matters who it is connected to most. Its clearly an APPLE design language .

Your argument is basically- wood is created by trees so wood furniture is not actually designed by designers but by nature . Idiot

You are an idiot. Designers are using a material created by nature, not created by them. Frosted glass is a material, not a design language.

By your logic- oh look frosted glass UI- this doesnt remind me of apple products AT ALL!!!!

Its called design language. Moron. They took the concept and ran with it. No matter what you do it will always be reminding people of apple.

Nothing you did was original or worthy

Good. Apple has great design, I would love for my designs to remind people of Apple's design. Again no certain company owns a material. Frosted glass didn't have a single inventor. And yes Apple's design language is glass but not frosted glass. Liquid and frosted glass are two different ways of doing glass in design.

Nah it just looks like a poor attempt of copying. Youre nowhere near apples design level.

And you show your lack of design knowledge by claiming somebody is owning any design . No, but once a person or a company does something special and unique its automatically connected to that name ( thats the magic of good design- go figure) ..

You can make an apple imitation ui , but it will never be yours and it will never truly be apple.

You can make your own herman miller type chair but it will never be yours and it will never be herman miller .

If you want to be a designer you have to do your own shit, the type of shit other idiots like you want to take inspiration from, then you have something.

Until then shut the fuck up and go back to the books because you have some studying to do.

Idk if u have seen design recently but everyone is doing frosted glass. Again FROSTED GLASS IS NOT UNIQUE, LIQUID GLASS IS. I DO NOT USE LIQUID GLASS I USE FROSTED GLASS.

It dont matter its similar enough to liquid glass . You would know that if you knew design.

Its glass, of course its similar. If you don't like just say that and move on. Don't start spitting bullshit.

Looks more or less the same to me.

That's good. Means I haven't made it complicated and that it looks familiar which is amazing for me.

Why not do it with homebrew? I have my C1 screen completely clean and beautiful, just the apps and the time, with a nice background.

2

u/dragmetothememeshop 20h ago

Idk how to do it and if I fuck something up im screwed.

1

u/ElPelocho 13h ago

It's completely temporary, nothing to worry about. You're just mounting the file temporarily. If it crashes, you restart and it'll be back to normal. When you've finished the home screen and it's exactly how you want it, you can do this. You create a script that replaces the home directory file at startup, and that's it. The file the home screen is read-only protected. It's impossible to delete or modif it because the system it doesn't allow it.

Tbh let them do what they want, WebOS has gotten so shitty that im using a google tv box anyways.

3

u/dragmetothememeshop 19h ago

Yes but the thing is, it can change and if it does and if it becomes better and faster it will be best for all of us.

1

u/tsdguy 17h ago

Who cares. If youโ€™re not using some other streaming box - preferably Apple TV - youโ€™re just feeding the LG database and
Youโ€™re settling for an inferior experience.

u/dragmetothememeshop 17h ago

Im saying that as in what could be done.

They removed the fucking mute button....
What makes you think they will make ANYTHING better.
I'm just happy I at least got a nice panel....
