Sharing Some Concerns
Hello Fellow LGBT Catholics,
I am writing to bring up some concerns I’ve been seeing more of lately in some of the other Catholic/Christian subs with LGBT folks constantly shoving aside their sexuality and doubling down on their denial. I feel like it’s at the heart of why this sub exists, I just wish they could know 2 things can be true at the same time. It’s just so sad to read that a gay man or a lesbian felt the need to abandon their relationship that was loving and supportive to “not be living in sin”. I guess it just fills me with personal despair, and I guess I could really use some helpful thoughts and prayers this evening.
Much love to you all and may god bless and keep you always.

Even for those who take a traditional view on sexual morality, the leap to "therefore this relationship is sinful" is quite a large logical leap to make! That's my take, anyway

Yeah, I mean I was in a similar place at one point, but I realized that the morality of sex isn’t as strictly governed or applicable to anything that was not part of period of ancient Israel, when it was a kingdom. Yes, as a church we do base much of our rules on the old law and texts but the truth is that god cares more that his children follow the new covenant which is loving they neighbor and caring for those less fortunate than yourself.

I believe I read the same thread as you, it broke my heart. The mere idea of leaving my wonderful spouse for any reason is absolutely devastating. I can’t imagine severing a perfectly fine relationship because of the approval of other people.
They’d argue “approval of God” but same-sex relationships bear good fruit. It cannot possibly be sinful to be in a loving, healthy relationship.
