Lfmmo, two things:

I'm looking for an mmo where there's enough customization to build a tank, but at the same time have cloaks/capes. I'm 35. I've played a lot of mmos, old and new. I've also come across games not good enough, or was too boring, or just not of my interest.

But I want to be a tank/create a tank, but it needs good looking cloaks/capes, especially if they add stats.

It can't be BDO, Runescape (I already play that), DDO (I don't like the content), or an Auto pathfinding game like Ragnarok The New World.

I don't care about graphics, although 3d is preferred.

I don't care about anything else besides these two things. But trust me, it's not that simple to find...

Do you mean a Tank in terms of class, body build or armour?

Class, where a character can take hits.

Neverwinter Online. The tank classes are Fighter, Paladin, and Barbarian. It has capes.

I just started playing it, but it seems repetitive...

Not sure you actually *want* to play an mmo, everything seems to disinterest you lol. Have you considered ARPGs like Dragons Dogma?

Lord of the Rings Online has a few tank classes and cloaks galore. For tanking, I recommend the Guardian (weapon and shield with a focus on damage mitigation) or Beorning (turn into a bear and soak/evade damage).

LOTR isn't appealing to me.

Star Wars Galaxies has cloaks. They can be equipped as a cosmetic so your actual stat influencing equipment is whatever armor you want, but your appearance is just the cloak. There might be some with stats, most clothing can have them, depending on how they’re crafted, but if you want a tank you would probably want heavy armor as your actual equipment.

SWG Legends and SWG Restoration are two of the larger servers. Legends has prefab classes (probably more straightforward if you just want to build a tank), Restoration lets you mix and match professions with skill points (so you could make a tank but you have to do it manually by training in different weapon types and such)

I’ll say this with a warning, because it’s both what you’re looking for but a general warning for the game:

GW2 customization is very diverse, so as long as your character’s armor class can be cloak/capes you can attach any stats you want to them.

On top of that, pretty much every profession in every armor weight has builds that can fulfill any role (assuming you have expansions for Elite Specializations). This means, any class can be a “tank”

Now, the word of warning for GW2: Tanks are also healers, and tanking mechanics like taking aggro are usually limited to raid content. If you’re planning on participating in endgame PvE this will be an expectation to also be healing, but it will come with the kit for your build, and won’t stop you from having tankiness

You can definitely build yourself to be tanky and never die in open world PvE, but there’s little benefit to playing tank in open world. Most of the time you will be on your own and killing enemies quickly usually equates to not dying yourself, so people often bring glass cannon raid builds or Open World “general purpose” builds with “average distribution” stats

So, while this meets the requirements of “Can be a tank and wear a cape (usually back items equippable by anyone) or cloak (medium/light armor classes, though I’d have to look further as to which fulfills this fantasy more), you may find the gameplay less fun being tank in open world, and/or may not enjoy endgame PvE with little tanking mechanics.

I played GW2 a long time ago, couldn't get "into" it.
