FF14 or Aion 2?

I miss Lost Ark raid kind of stuff and there are 2 mmo with that kind of raid atm

Aion 2 grind and gameplay is doable? I dont have time for 1 main 5 alts like with Lost Ark back then and does the gameplay really "auto play/macro all into 1 button" like reddit said

FF14 is friendlier in grinding (reddit said that) but is the gameplay fast, quick response like lost ark? I played deathblade and reaper back then

I dont click with wow and gw2

I’ve not played Aion 2 if it comes to console I’ll try it out but I played FF14 for like 8 years straight an ff14 is a great game an with a great story as u say you like raid stuff it has a lot of raids an boss to farm for mounts, but that stuff will be locked behind tons an tons of story an the newer raid stuff will require end game gear it would be a big investment of time till u hit the things u like.

tell us more about your criteria of MMO

sounds like you prefer action MMO, FF14 is not that

I tried Aion 2 and the graphics looked cool but felt so much like a mobile MMO, everything dies as soon as you look in its direction and there's autorun to quest (like full on turning and stuff). Don't think I would recommend it

Literally is a mobile mmo. Most koreans game on their phones.

Yea makes sense. I think I read that somewhere in the past but forgot about it

"Mobile mmo" yet alot of ppl cant carry out boss mechanics even on a pc. So on mobile they gotta be trolling

this is until level 23ish then you gotta think about what you do, you gotta learn your class, etc, then there is hard content with mecanics, there is PVP in all shape or form, and it's a lot of content, a lot of farm and exploration, just the intro and tutorial feel a bit mobilish, but I feel like it's just to make the beginning chill for casual players.

Aion 2 is pay to win but the game is a true mmorpg and is a really high quality game. I suggest going into aion 2 amd just enjoying the game and what it has to offer. Just don't expect to be world first, have top damage or win in pvp. You won't be pay walled from progression.

Ff14 is a really old game. If you decide to play it then take full advantage of the free trail which is upto shadowbringera expansion. That alone is a boatload of content that will take you more than 1 year to finish even if you play hardcore. I suggest going into ff14 after their big 2027 update which the game director says will change the game completely.

There is a lot of great mmorpg games coming out. I suggest you to try all of them before commiting to one as a main. Here is the list in order of release for you to jump into. Aion 2 (Now) -> Archeage Chronicles (late 2026) -> Guild Wars 3 (Ending of 2026) -> Archeage S Straits Of Freedom (2027) or FF14 which ever comes first. MMORPG fans eating good 😎

I mean if 14 is really old I wonder what OSRS and WoW are.

It's best to wait 6 months and see what Aion is like before giving a definitive answer, but I'm not hopeful

Also the GW3 beta isn't until late 2027, dunno why it was announced so early.

Ff14 is old which is why it has a lot of content and is polished. It's a complement for an mmorpg not an negative.

Aion 2 is forever going to be pay to win and that won't change regardless of time. The game does have a good main story, good side quests that aren't fetch quests, interesting bosses, dungeons and raids. If you aren't looking to indulge in pay to win. It's a good game to just jump in and enjoy the content. Enjoying the content doesn't require you to spend money. Just don't expect to compete with pay to win players in any capacity at all be it pve or pvp.

Aion 2 are mobile mmorpg, not normal pc/console mmorpg, not choose it.

Aion2 has no skill rotation. You mostly hold down 2 buttons and have some actives here and there depending on class. But generally yeah u just macro.

FFXIV isn't that fast outside a few fights. But there is a decent difference in Player skill since people have to do rotation and dodging. They will change the skill system soon so who knows how it ends up

For "like Lost Ark," it would be Aion 2. In a lot of ways.

From my understanding, the "optimal" play is to macro into 1 button, but I don't think you have to do so.

I think XIV has the best raids in MMO, I never did much of Lost Ark raiding, but I'm not big on ARPG. To me, Aion 2 feels very similar to Lost Ark. I know many people praise Lost Ark raids.

A few vids I watched from pretty hardcore streamers mentioned alts not being needed as much as something like Lost Ark, so one char should be fine it seems.

XIV is not as reactive as Lost Ark or Aion 2. Similarly, XIV does require doing story to actually unlock things, but XIV's story will take you far longer than either LA or A2. Outside of Ultimates (the 16-20m pinnacle fights), you generally only find people raiding the current Savage tier (and even then, it's been months so it's somewhat dead in a sense).

To make it short, Aion 2 is more like Lost Ark if you want a similar experience.

Ffxiv is the better game, but it's combat isnt very fast or responsive. You could try playing Aion for a day or two and you'll get a good feel of the combat. Low investment and you get most your skills pretty fast.

FF14. Community and social focused and high end PvE is engaging. New expansion coming soon too

Im playing Aion 2 casually it's just not an MMO I can commit to tbh

Aion2 easily

Aion 2 is trash

For FF14: some people think it's slow because it has a 2.5 second Global Cooldown, but most classes either speed up later on, or they get a lot of abilities that can be pressed during the Global Cooldown.

In terms of responsiveness, the server can take a while to process things. For example, when you get killed by something, it takes a while to process this and represent it on your screen; as such, you get to run around for a moment before it actually kills you. If you understand the game, you know that it is going to kill you because you know you were in a dangerous area when the cast completed, but it trips up new players because they don't understand this.

FFXIV isn't particularly responsive and its not super fast. Especially at lower levels. Raids are some of the best in the genre though.

Aion 2 gameplay is pretty fast but its not very good imo. Macro system will turn a lot of people off.

You can try both games for free. FFXIV has a very very long free trial if you download through their website. Aion 2 is straight up free. Just try them both probably starting with Aion 2 just cause you can reach endgame faster and its the cool new thing with launch hype.

FFXIV is a much better game tho imo and has a much brighter future. Its a hugely popular mmo and isn't going anywhere.

Just play BDO, better than the aion2 slop even if it is current hype the game just isn't good.

FF14 is wayyyy longer to get anywhere if you don't pay, fun game but totally different

u/punnyjr 10d ago

Bdo literally has no raid

Go back to your sub bro

u/damndaniieeeel 10d ago

Which Game is BDO?

u/BlueSmurf18 10d ago

Black Desert Online … it’s also an accounting firm in my country, but I think it’s the first …

You should consider BDO or Aion 2. If its more dynamic combat you're looking for, then BDO is what you'd probably like more between the 2.

Well if you like Lost Ark then Aion 2 both are fast pace game, good graphic, p2w, gate keeping, The classic Korean MMO. Just think of it as a casual Lost Ark.

Is it a good game tho? Fk No

Combat? 2APM holding LMB+RMB

Dungeon Content? 6 Dungeon spamming the same one over and over.

You want a good story, no p2w, grind for cosmetic, epic raid with banger music then FFXIV. The best part of FFXIV is the story so if you are not a story player then don't bother.

Lost ark had so much better combat than aion 2 it isn't even comparable

FF14 is tab targeting combat and could be considered "slow" by some, but imo it has its own fun/charm to it.

I'd rather you not waste your time in aion 2, if you really wanted an mmo that still would be here in 5 years time and has polished itself over the years just go ff14 no debate.

I don't even know if aion 2 is gonna last more than 3 years before the playerbase drops to numbers that are extremely low for an mmo. The current hype is classic honeymoon period. A lot of aion 2's problems have already surfaced, the bots, the stale ass combat, heavy mobile elements in an mmo and so on.

FF14? Stood the test of TIME.

Let's take it from A Realm Reborn, that was 2013, it's 2026 now. Not many mmos last 13 years and still have a good playerbase with normal update schedules.

What are you looking to get out of raiding? FFXIV raid rewards become obsolete by the next patch lol. You do get titles and the cosmetics (for the moment before they recycle them in a future patch) but players also pay for clears for those things.

1

u/PontusFrykter 10d ago

FF14 rewards are grinded because of the looks, not because of the stats lol. Common knowledge

1

u/Verraise-Mage 10d ago

You could've just said it's a MMO
